Are these okay to use on a REO? was thinking of trying something different and I remember seeing several posts about the 901's having great flavor (someone correct me if it was the 801) so wanted to make sure before I actually go out and buy some.

Also I remember reading that adapters can mess up something... but I can't find the post - can someone enlighten me? thanks

I like both 901's and 801's. Adapters are fine too. Just make sure they're sturdy and the insulator ring is in good shape. Insert a toothpick or straightened paperclip into the center hole and try to make the center post touch the body of the adapter. If it does, trash that adapter.

Low profile adapters ("stealth") work best on Reos, IMO.

Rob posted some pictures of adapters (somewhere... will try to find them later) and what they should look like before using them on your Reo. He'll also adjust your adapters for you if you ask him.

510-901 Adapter

I'm using these from empire mods.

hey mudflap, thx for the reply. i don't see an insulator ring.. maybe the ones I got are different? if you click the link you can see a bigger picture.. I put a toothpick down the hole but i don't know where the center post is? do you think you can elaborate a little? not really understanding this and don't want to mess anything up =T

Yep .... ^^ what he said :)

Just be careful ........

As far as attys I think 801 have the most flavor but almost no throat hit.
901 have good flavor and some throat hit.

Just remember any new atty is going to taste better than an old atty .... no matter what # you choose :)

so true.. i love a fresh attie! ah thanks for the info, gotta go with the 901 though as that's the only adapter i got

Also, screw the atty on the adapter first, check it with a multimeter, and look at the bottom to make sure that the depth of the center pin looks the same as a working atty.

=[ guess i need a multimeter first.. and i don't see a pin at all... are there different kinds or something? or am i just not looking at it correctly.

i'm even looking at the bottom of a 306 attie in the light and i don't see a pin at all o_O

The center post of the adapter is the hollow metal tube inside the body of the adapter. It is held in place by rubbery/siliconey type material that prevents it from making direct contact with the body of the adapter. That material is called the insulator ring.
