I enjoy reading this forum and discover there is a lot of hype regarding the Vapor King. I undersand that the difference with this is the atomiser and cartridge are one instead of two. I enjoy the 510. This forum screams that the VK is so much better. How does the cost compare to using the 510? I can't help thinking the VK would be so much more expensive to use. I find that using my 510 is very economical. However I am curious as to why the VK has so much hype surrounding it. I am on the fence as to whether or not to give the VK a go.

Thanks,
John

If you are happy with your 510, why try anything else? Some people love their 510's and would never switch. I was one of those who didn't enjoy the dripping, topping off carts, and all the maintanence. I want to pick up and go without carrying all the juice and extra stuff with me. To me the consistant throat hit and taste and zero muss and fuss is what sold me. I didn't want another hobby and would have probably quit vaping if I had to continue on the 510.

So yeah, I love my VK, and I love the customer service and extra goodies I get from V4L. No hype, I found my sweet spot is all and that's about it.

I understand your thing about the constant maintenance involved with the 510. I guess that is why I am investigating the VK. I found when I used just the cartridges without refilling them, it ended up being more expensive that smoking analogs. So I started refilling the cartridges. I like the idea of just sticking on a cartomiser and throwing it out when finished and replacing with a fresh one. My only concern that it sounds expensive. I guess I am looking for assurance that if I switch, it will be less expensive than smoking analogs.

I don't think anyone can give you a guarantee but I seriously doubt that any Vapor King users will tell you they aren't saving money over analogs unless you work at an analog plant. Though everyone is different, if I refill the cartomizers I'm saving tons of money over analogs that cost me $5.30/pack plus tax but I was a very heavy user at 3 packs/day.

I would say that depending on your usage you certainly shouldn't spend much more if any on the VK over the 510, (Possibly less if you find the VK and the liquid more satisfying). The big difference is going to be the amount of your time spent with the 510 vs the VK on maintenance.

Honestly I look at 3 piece devices as being older technology and the 2 piece as the new wave. but it's up to you. Plenty of ex 510 users have made the switch.

You are exactly where I was one week ago, so I think I can help.

First, listen to what JenJen says. She's one smart lady who won't steer you wrong.

Last Sunday, I ordered the cheapest starter kit V4L has, the mini kit, just to check it out.

Vapor4Life- Electronic Cigarette: Vapor King Mini Kit with USB Passthrough

It arrived on Wednesday. I spent most of the evening checking it out. I vaped through one cartomizer as fast as I could (almost) and took it apart to see how the refilling part would go. It turned out to be very easy and far less messy that refilling 3-piece carts.

I'll cut to the chase first. Before I went to bed Wednesday night, I ordered the Ultimate Ultimatum kit. I was that impressed.

Vapor4Life:: Because it's your life :: Electronic Cigarettes & Alternatives to Analog Smoking :: Vape-On Baby!

I went with the auto batteries, but they have the same kit with manuals too.

If you only use pre-filled cartomizers, the cost will be significantly higher than refilling your 510.

Refilling the VK is so easy it's not funny. All you need to buy is juice. One or two simple tools you can make or find lying around the house and you're in business.

Since each cartomizer comes with silicone caps (similar to the 510 carts but a much better seal) and a little plug, you can carry extra cartomizers almost any way you want, including in your pocket. No leaking!

Want to load a cartomizer with a different flavor than it came with? To do this you need some fairly sophisticated equipment... a pair of pliers and a kitchen sink. ;) The pliers are to hold the cart (gently!) while you rinse it out with hot water. Blow through it and refill.

I hope this helps. If you want more info, there is tons of it and great people in this forum. All you need to do is ask!

Oh yea, WELCOME!

Bob

510 user here, but always looking for the next best thing;) I have used the KR808D-1 and it has superior battery life, and much higher cart capacity and being a 2 piece with auto batts it is better on the surface but with my pcc batt life isn't an issue and to get the same vapor that the 510 produces easily you have to hot box the KR and it gets hot! The KR is equal in throat hit. Bottom line I like both and they both have a place in the world of vaping. Oh and the KR has manual batts also now,so it get's harder to decide which one to carry:p Just flip a coin, winner every time!

I'm not trying to be snarky here really, but if you refill your cartomizers, how is that any better than refilling the cart on the three piece units? Does it perform that much better than the others as far as throat hit, vapor, taste? What is it that everyone loves so much about the VK?

Just trying to understand why it is so much better.

Thanks Bob, awesome information. What would I need to get me through the day. I was a pack a day smoker. Do I need to buy extra batteries? I found with my 510, I needed to carry extra batteries. Is there a PCC case for the VK? Any advice on how many cartomizers I should get? I still have about 30ml of juice left for my 510. This probably won't last too much longer.

Because you aren't doing it all the time. With the 510 I was dripping and topping off carts all day to get the same throat hit and taste I get from the carto I just screw on and use pretty much all day. With the VK I go through 1 1/2 to 2 cartos a day, then plug them back up and set them aside to refill. I usually save them until the end of the week and then refill a bunch at the same time. Takes about a half hour or so and I am set for the next week. Some people refill up to 15 or 20 times.

I find that vaping on the 16mg or 24mg cartos is about right for me to get a nice throat hit. Everyone is different - I just didn't like the inconsistant throat hit when I wasn't dripping, and didn't like soaking and blowing out attys all the time when they flooded.

"So much better" is a very personal and subjective thing. My NCig and 510 still have a place, but mostly at home. To me the throat hit, vapor, and taste are at least equal to a 3-piece. Better? Again, that's subjective.

For me it is better because it is far less messy to refill the cartomizers. I don't worry about filler because it's built in. I don't worry about atomizers because it's built into the cartomizer. If I burn the filler or it wears out, I can pitch the cartomizer and grab another, they're cheap compared a 3-piece. If the atomizer dies, same thing.

After I refill a cartomizer, I seal it back up with the plug & caps. It doesn't leak at all. At least they haven't in my very short usage and I don't see how they could.

So far, the only time I've gotten e-liquid on my hands is while I'm opening up the cartomizer.

The VK may not be for you. Just because I think I've found my answer doesn't mean it's everyone's answer.

Bob

On edit: I just re-read my post. I didn't mean to be "snarky" either. I just added emphasis in an attempt to ensure I was clear that my replies are my perceptions.

JenJen types faster than me so her post will probably beat mine but, here goes.

Cart duration. Cureent VK cartomizers hold .8 ml of liquid, the new ones Steve is getting will contain 1 ml out of the box. Most users are getting the equivalent of 1/2 to a pack or more of analog equiv. life from 1 cartomizer. Refilling will get the same long term benefit but the cartomizer will eventually poop out or burn depending on your use. Somne people are able to refill as many as 10 times, (count me in on that)

Many who have compared 510s to the VK will tell you that the throat hit is a variable somewhat depending on the liquid you're using. If you have used an E-Cig, vapor should not be an issue and will probably be as good as what you are using, maybe better, maybe worse but again, some of that depends on the liquid.

Jen,

Do you use a manual or auto battery?

I have all of them, but prefer the extra long manual myself. ;)

They all work well, and the manual passthrough is great. When I power vape at night, I tend to have the pt and the extra long going so I don't overheat the cartos. A little trick I picked up from Phoenix, the vapor queen!

I'm so new, JenJen can almost certainly answer it better than I.

If you clicked on my second link, that is the kit I have. Tomorrow will be my first day at work with the VK. I'll tell you what I'm taking:

2 batteries, one assembled with a cartomizer and one in the PCC.

Two extra cartomizers in the PCC. All 3 cartomizers will be different flavors.

I will probably take a small stash of cartomizers also, but that is just because I have a few friends at work that are interested in e-cigs. If they want to try it, I'll have them.

Bob

PS. I smoked about 1-1/2 packs a day. I have 10 or 12 bottles of liquid here. I plan to use all of it (eventually) refilling cartomizers.

Oh yea! A cartomizer holds about 20 drops.
