I recently bought a 510 mega battery and am just wondering if the blue LED on the battery is suppose to stay lit while charging. I did some searching, and found that it just may be because it's the first time it's been charged.

I also find that you have to be careful when screwing it in using the usb charger or it will show it's fully charged (green light).

Just want to know if anyone else had this happen.

Generally, batteries with a built in LED will have an indication of some sort that they are plugged in and charging. I would imagine that this is the case, though I can't say I know for 100% soiten.

And you will only want to screw it in enough to make contact, too tight and you can end up pushing the centre post down on charger or battery. Bad mojo.

Don't know about the blue/green light batteries, but the standard eGo has a red light when vaping. When put on the charger, the red LED lights up with periodic green flashes when the circuitry is checking the voltage, then back to red. When the green light stays on, it's charged.

In you case, I would expect the blue light to indicate charging and the constant green light to indicate charging complete. Didn't you get a data sheet in the box that explains that? I would email the vendor and ask for information.

It's an automatic battery, the manual regular ones that I have don't light up when charging. Just why it confused me. Will find out soon enough.

Look at the MA (milliamp rating) on the charger. The battery is a 280mah battery. Divide the 280 by the rate of charge listed on the charger to get the time in hours for a typical charge. I'd estimate about 1 1/2 hours from dead to full charge on most. On an eGo 650mah battery, the charger is 420mah and it takes about an hour an a half to complete charging.

If it goes green shortly after screwing it in, it's probably charged. Most of these batteries come with a 40% charge or better out of the box. 40% is an accepted storage level. Some vendors charge them completely before shipping.

Just to clear something up, OP isn't talking about charger.

blue LED on the battery

Regarding the charger itself (not battery): On mine there is a red light that blinks when checking charge every 10ish seconds, and changes to green when full. Though the (my) ego battery only blinks 5 times when first screwed in, after that it's off.

*ed: Without knowing the brand of charger/battery it'll be hard to say what is normal and what is not. "510 mega battery" isn't very descriptive for a technical question such as this.

Awesome, I still don't have experience with the big battery mods for them, though I'm pretty sure someone who does will chime in shortly.

Does the charger have a red light or green light? The big (18650) batteries take a fair amount of time to charge, they're 2000-3000mAh. Mine on a dedicated charger take around 4-6 hours depending on charge left when I do it.

You could also try asking (or requesting the post moved) to the Technical sub-forum now that you have the post count required. Some of the older vapers don't frequent the New Member area, preferring to stick to their preferred sections.

Just got a reply from my vender.

The blue light at the end does stay on when on the charger.
However not sure if this is the case when the battery is discharged as the the ones they've tested have a charge.

Thanks for all your replies btw. It's nice to have this community here.

I'll post and update after it's been fully charged and then fully discharged. Could just be a first time fully charged thing or that the LED on the battery just stays on when charging all the time.

My battery when charging- blue batt light stays on while wall adapter is always red. USB light is flashing red and green- solid green when charged. Realize all chargers that come with starter kits are garbage even the high end PVs.

Batteries should be protected which will prevent them from being fully drained (ie: 0v, actually most are 3.2 "empty" methinks). Expect that light to be there every time.

With regular Li-Ions there is no simple calculation like you just used. the CC/CV algorithm is a bit more complicated than that. Will a 1A charger charge a Li-Ion twice as fast as a 500mA one? No.
