About 2 years ago I bought two Yeti 510s. I like my 510 and stopped using it simply because of convenience. At the time, nothing compared to the quality and amount of vapor it produced. I have come back to give the e-cig another go.

I have seen that there are a lot of new e-cigs on the market and I am curious if there is any clear frontrunner like there was when the 510 came out. Is there a new product that is considerably better than what I have?

There are about 40 or 50 devices that are better than a two year old Yeti. The top of the line PV's for battery life, throat hit, flexibility and consistency are top 3 or 4 variable volt PV's. As an example, the PV I use (heavy, chain vaper) gives me 21 hours on a charge, senses the changes in the atomizer as you vape and automatically adjusts the power level to maintain the consistency of each inhale and doubles as a pass-though.

You should be pleasantly surprised at the advances in PV's. If they could only improve the atomizers more. Although the invention of cartomizers and tank systems are a step in the right direction.

I can honestly say I didn't expect such a great response. I feel like I've been caught up on everything I've missed.

Here's what I have:
2 original Yeti 510 batteries
1 PCC
6 atomizers (5 in box, new; 1 I am vaping right now)
tons of carts
A package of liquid on the way
Misc. liquid mixing bottles, droppers, etc.

I bought liquid from Totally Wicked on Sunday. It will be here Thursday. The reason I chose them is because I have bought from them before and have never had a complaint. I'm not extremely cost sensitive, but cost conscious and very quality minded.

RE-Mods:
Modding was just getting going when I got out. People were putting coffee straws in 510 cars to try to be able to fill them better and the 'drip' method had just started. There seem to be lots in the way of mods happening now and I can honestly say I am delighted to have made the smart choice when bought my 510s. They seem to be still a worthwhile platform and I'm glad to have leaped over two years of (probably painful) product development.

Everybody who had input:
I appreciate it. I read your post and it I've taken what you've mentioned to heart and I'll use it to get back onto the know.

Roxics:
The 510 is now an e-cig platform. That's great news. I'm glad I am at least in the ballpark of knowledge. It would have been pretty sad to come back and find out that all that frustration learning how to mix, drip, fill, clean, puff and generally maintain would have all needed to be tossed to make room for some new wacky system that had nothing in common with what I already know.

Digs:
I agree that the biggest weakness to the original battery is the life, and also agree that their greatest strength is the size. When I got out, the screwdriver existed but it was too bulky. I bought the PCC to keep me going all day and charged it at night. It's more bulky than an ego battery, so I'll start looking into that. Your history of what has happened in the last two years was great.

As a side note, I'm stoked to see that my join date is at least two years old, but the more I think about it the more I am sure that I bought my first Yeti in summer 2008.

Oh, and I've got some reading to do.

Thanks,

Steve
