5v - 2 AMP USB Charger == Need help!

Okay so I bought a 5v 2.1amp USB charger, it works for charging ANYTHING like a phone, iphone, anything that actually has some 'smart' device on the other side, but it DOESNT work for my USB passthrough, I am guessing because the only thing the USB passthrough has is the - and + terminal connected. So what I am wondering is how do I rig the other two connections on a standard USB female output to trick the device into actually providing power for my USB Passthrough..

I guess it's designed for the iPad.. ...... I didn't realize that. Im a idiot. That's probably why right? Is there still a way to rig it?

This is probably why it's not working. It's to smart for it's own good.=]

I'm not exactly sure how you would go about tricking it into working.

I believe the communication pins are the center two and the outer two are power. Google usb pinout any you will find many pinouts.

That is correct, but you do not what to cross the data pins any more than you would want to cross positive and ground. As you said before this charger is simply "too smart".

I remember seeing somewhere that you can trick the data pins with a couple of resistors. I believe that was on the device side however to get it to start charging. I can't remember the specifics but i'm sure google will solve it for you =]

Yeah, it said it has a auto-cutoff IC:

I was hoping these ipad adapters would provide us all easy (as in-the-stores-everywhere easy) access to a 2.0 amp USB adapter. Darn. At least for this one. Note the price....$0.99. lol.
