5V box overheating

It works for a few puffs and then stops, once it cools off it's good for a few more.
Ask in modder's forum and was told it probably needs a heat sink.

I ordered three box kits. Everything needed for it to work was to be included.
Is it going to be necessary to rig something for each one of them???!!!

Hmm. shouldn't be hot and should work continually.. What batteries and atty are you using with it?

Do you think you are grounding out the battery somehow? My protege would do that if you screwed the atty on to hard using an 801. The atty wouldn't work, and the battery got real hot real fast.

Are you using LR atties on a 5 volts? If you have a multimeter I would check their resistance. How many atty have you tried with it?

I used a 510 HV & regular on it and both do the same thing. Hubby (who is working on it & made other mods) has checked it out and nothing funky going on. Heat sink is the next option. If that fails, it's got to be a bad regulator.
Keeping fingers crossed the next two aren't going to do the same thing.

Well tried the heat sink and it works a bit longer now but still it just stops producing vapor.
Pretty sure it's the regulator. I've sent a message from MadVapes site so hopefully I hear something from somewhere soon.
Now onto number two & keeping fingers crossed.

what type of input voltage is going to the regulator? just 2 batteries or more?

Using two Ulta Fire 14500 so that shouldn't be the problem. The second is going together so it won't be long before we know if it's the regulator or something being done wrong on this end.
I doubt the latter since it does work for a little bit.

The regulators actually do have overheat protection and will shutdown if too hot.. There's a spec sheet in the product description but can't remember the temp they shutdown at.. Do you happen to have a wiring diagram of how the device is being wired?

I know a lot of questions but the regulators getting hot is not a common problem with them because of the intermittent use..

It was wired like this

The only difference is the capacitor wasn't put in because it was not included in any of the kits.

Didn't try to add the led.
