Just popping in to say thanks to V4L and everyone here that supported me and answered my questions and gave excellent advice! I haven't smoked a cigarette for over 6 months now. I don't get winded when I walk my dogs now, my clothes, house, and hair no longer stink, and I'm pretty right pleased with myself
On an interesting note, the first time I quit back in 2006, 5 months into it I was diagnosed with hypothyroid (TSH around 156!), which I later read is pretty common for women who have quit smoking. Pills got that under control, but I started smoking again before I quite reached 6 months of not smoking. I had my annual checkup about 2 months ago, and wouldn't ya know it, my thyroid levels were up again. Gee, I quit smoking again, my thyroid went up... clue? I said as much to the PA who I hope took note. So, got a bit stronger Rx for synthroid and will get rechecked in a few weeks.
I also committed to losing that 10lbs I put on from the last Quit, and am happy to be back at 120lbs for the last 3 months.
V4L = WIN!!!!
