The atty will not heat at all unless he puts the piece of metal down in it, then he gets plenty of vapor. Without the metal stick it seems to be getting no power. to stop the atty from heating you have to take the stick out. Needless to say, this is too inconvenient to make it usable.

Yeah, I've got one like that. Faulty switch, with the bit of metal you are using the cleaning method of a long burn essentially.

If it is within warranty contact the vendor for a replacement, simply put it is broken.

I did it!!! I found one of the problem.
A) Problem: inconsistent vapor production, flooding, Low flavor and dry vapor.

1. Possible causes; fiber material not wicking properly. This can be caused by the fiber not being dense enough to hold liquid causing flooding, and not allowing the fiber to return excess liquid into the cartridge. Reverse wicking.

*I have found that the M201 cartridge fibers are pressed flat and layered this provides superior wicking.

B) Solution: I removed the fibers from the cartridge and cut it half way down. I removed the fibers from 2 M201 cartridge and put 1.5 of them together.
*Note*
Since the fibers in the M201 cartridges are layered you can split one of them.
You do not want the fibers to be too densely packed as it will not allow proper wicking as well as the fibers not forming around the atty. The fibers when optimally formed will touch the bottom of the atty floor 10% in other words on the sides where you can see the liquid pool around the atty inn the past. You must not have the fibers directly on top of the atty too dense or too much liquid will pass into the atty causing low vapor production. after you have finished the custom formed fiber and you have inserted it and removed it after vaping you will notice the fibers have a "V" like shape the top of the "V" should be able to reach past the atty to the area where the liquid pools.
*Do not try to fill the cartridge. Test it out adding 10 drops at a time till you find the best saturation point. Too much liquid will reduce the vapor production till the cartridge drys out a bit. If you put too much in the cartridge take it out and vape the excess you will know you put too much by getting great vaping till it drys out. Be careful not to vape it too dry as you could burn the atty causing a burnt taste.

I hope I have explained this process well enough to help some of the more savvy vapers out there. I also believe trying some other fillers will produce similar results.

Happy vaping!!:)

Legacyman here again.

This time I have tweaked the drip method for the 601 E-Pipe.
Ok what I do is take the filler out the 601 pipe cartridge. I cut it in half and pull the filler apart loosely then I put the filler directly into the pipe.
I make sure the filler reaches the bottom but stays loosely packed. Then I drip about 6-10 drops wait a minute then vape. I found that the vapor is cool and full of flavor. *note take slow pulls as the pipe really produces a heavy vapor. I sometimes have to pull the mouth piece out so the slot acts like a vent to lessen the intensity of the heavy vapor.
This process really works. I like this better than the process I detailed in an earlier post.

Week 2 and the drip with a little loosely packed filler is the way to go for the e-pipe.
*note* You can tweak the amount of filler you use. The more you use the more liquid it will hold. Remember the vapor has to pass through the filler so if you use too much the vapor will be reduced.

OK I am a happy 601 e-pipe user no problems using the drip method described above. it is the way to go. Cart and the e pipe is a no go. Just loosely pack a 1/4 inch.
Fiber piece #1
If you want you can pack the bottom half way across a little tight but leave half the atty exposed around the top side. This just acts like a anti flood.

Fiber piece #2
Then put a 1/4" of loosely packed fiber on top and just make sure it makes enough contact that the juice will wick into the atty.
If you put in too much fiber or pack it too tight it will act like a filter on a cigarette and reduce the intensity of the vapor.
Smokes like a dream.

For some reason my new e-pipe that I just received will not go into the "standy by" mode but instead the light is always red whether I am drawing on it or not. If I understood the directions correctly, you can leave the battery in with the contact in place and unless you are drawing on the e-pipe it will go into stand-by mode. Mine does not do this but remains on. It seems to overheat because of this and gets very hot and smokes because it is always on. It even smokes if there is no cartridge in place. I do not know if it something that I am doing wrong or if it is defective. Any advice would be welcome.

Thanks for the help.

The 601 is jamming on because juice has leaked through into the switch (bit of a problem with that model). If you bang it against your hand it should go off. If you just leave it on the atomizer will burn out and you'll have to get another one (this also solves the problem)
I gave up on mine even though it was much loved. After draining it religiously every night and still having to deal with constant switch jamming, The bowl cracked overnight so badly that the threads fell out.
Check out your warranty.

Does anyone know how to open the charger housing? I ordered a second DSE601 and the charger died after one use-- the LED flickerd while charging, then went out; it charged the battery but when I went to charge it again, it didn't work; No LED, no charge; nothing. I was going to try to open it and see if I could see any loose wires or something I could fix. There's a small hole on the back but I can't see down in it, and none of the tools I stuck in it (screw drivers, allen wrenches, stars) would grab to anything.

Any help appreciated.
