I forgot to take my charger and extra battery to work with me two days ago. As I'm sitting in my hotel room watching tv, my egos light starts flashing at me. No problem, just get the other battery and charge this one. Imagine my frantic surprise when I realize I forgot them. I was so nervous, how am I going to make another day without nicotine? I go to my backpack with all of my work stuff in it and try to figure out how I'm going to make this work. Here you go. My 6 volt mod.

Most cells labeled "industrial" are Zinc Chloride cells.

The only reason it may have worked would be the sheer size of the cells (Some of those 6V lantern batteries contain 4 F size cells, some are D size cells.) The cell chemistry has a very hard time delivering even mediocre loads for very long. At the load of a typical atty, I would suspect that the huge brick there probably wouldn't last much longer than a typical little ecig cell in the ~500mAH range.

Reminds me. I have a 12v car battery charger that has a 6v switch. Oh, and it's 6 amp!

Car battery could work fine, just need to put a big ole sand block resistor or a PWM bucking circuit on it first.

I wonder if anyone has thought about making an atty designed to run ~12V for direct drive from the "cigarette" lighter plug in the car... wow, what a funny pun of a situation. It would be ~20-30 Ohms... hmmm.

Remember, he was improvising like McGyver. Ya have to use what's available. Tear apart your wristwatch and unwind the coil wire. That should supply enough resistance if it don't burn up. Or pull out your headlight and put it in series with the atty.
