Yes, I tried the abstinence-only method as well, and failed repeatedly. I have read many sites like the one you are describing, as well as the drivel from "health" groups that are shells for and funded by pharmaceutical companies. Not to mention, there is mounting evidence and medical support for e cigs. Yes, nicotine is not good for you, but the major health risks lie in the actual smoke. One would think that sites like Quitnet would get behind e cigs, but no- it's their way or the highway. Not very effective or productive, in my opinion.

I think supporting the e cig fits who I am, since I am a bit of a non-conformist anyway, and HIGHLY skeptical of corporate influence and their profits. It's feels good sticking it to big tobacco and big pharma!

Love what you say here! Its only almost 1 week for me and I am loving it! Way to go on you 7 months!

Thanks, and good job on the one week! It's only going to get better, as newer and even better products emerge. Hopefully, all smokers will either be vaping or quitting all nicotine in years to come! I can imagine the benefits will be huge.

Very interesting indeed, McDougal! I just found the Boston University study on Wikipedia:

Boston University School of Public Health study
A study by researchers at the Boston University School of Public Health in 2010 concluded that electronic cigarettes were safer than real cigarettes and may aid in breaking the habit of smoking. Researchers said that while further studies on electronic cigarettes were needed, "[f]ew, if any, chemicals at levels detected in electronic cigarettes raise serious health concerns." Electronic cigarettes were found to be "much safer" than traditional tobacco ones, and had a level of toxicity similar to existing nicotine replacements.[17][18][19]
In the report, the level of carcinogens in electronic cigarettes was found to be up to 1,000 times lower than regular cigarettes. It also said early evidence shows that electronic cigarettes may help people to stop smoking by simulating a tobacco cigarette.[17][18]

Ok, I have to write this, because I don't think I'm being irrational here.

My new V2 kit is still on "its way," according to FedEx. I paid extra for the 2 day shipping. The problem is that it was promptly shipped off last Thursday. I do understand thing happen that cause delays. But....

A couple issues here. On the tracking page yesterday, the last activity was on Friday morning at 9:00, yet it stated "on schedule" until an hour after the estimated delivery time. This alone makes tracking online undependable, thus irrelevant.

So I called FedEx last evening and spoke to a friendly rep that said there were "mechanical issues" with the plane, and assured me it was going to be shipped off last night.

About an hour ago, the tracking page's last activity was still 9am last Friday. So I called again. This time, got another friendly person, and she put me on hold to check on it. After about 5 minutes, she came back and told me that it was delayed because of "inclement weather," but assured me it would be delivered today before 5:30. I asked how that was going to happen since the package is still in Memphis, and she just said it would be here.

I'm skeptical because of all the inconsistencies and lack of information. If it doesn't get here today, I don't think it's unreasonable to ask for a full refund for the 2 day shipping. I'm glad I'm not relying on FedEx for something more important, as this is a really bad first impression, and I think I may just go back to using the USPS or UPS. I definitely won't use them again if I get another runaround.

Ok, got that off my chest!

It is maddening isn't it! Waiting and waiting, checking tracking...happens to me all the time with my vape related packages.
I do a lot of shopping on Amazon,(we have a prime membership w/them) and I am so used to getting all my products in two days on the dot. UPS man comes so often, he is not even barked at by the dogs. :)but I digress. Since I decided to become a Vaporator, I have had to deal with USPS and it is CRAZY slow. I did order a lot of juice right off the bat, even though smaller amounts to start with, and see if you like the flavors, are the recommendation for a newb. I've been reading like mad, and bought the flavors, and used the vendors, that were really liked by a
lot of forum members, and I got lucky because I like all the juice I received.
I do not want to commit to switching over from cigarettes, and then run out of juice, and have to wait from 5 to 15 days to receive more. I ordered more batteries last night for the same reason, I want to be PREPARED, 'cause I never want to turn back to smokin'.
By the by, I would definitely request the extra $ for two day shipping be refunded by FedX.

Thanks for the info! Yes, I have ordered before but always by USPS or UPS. If I payed FedEx for standard shipping, I wouldn't care if it took a little longer. But if I pay more for faster shipping, then I feel like I'm getting ripped off by FedEx when they give me these empty answers with differing explanations. So I'll give them through today, and if I'm still package-less tomorrow, I will call, expecting a refund for the expensive shipping I paid for, and will certainly never use FedEx again.

Yeah, I wouldn't either if it was regular service. That would drive me insane, but I guess when you pay out the nose for fast shipping, the varying stories of "delays" start to gnaw at you!

Gah! I'm right there with you. Waiting on packages and tracking shipments is tough when i want it now haha!
Plus, once I receive my liquids I still have to let them steep for a week to get that awesome flavor and vapor. That's the hardest part for me, waiting when I know its there...calling me...whispering "vape me!"

McDougal, I'm a ticket broker, so we ship hundreds of Fedex shipments out annually. I can relate to the pain when they do make a mistake, as it is rare, and we pay a premium for "No Excuses", and "Get it hear pronto"! Fedex will do their best to get the shipment to you, and your supplier should receive a full credit from Fedex for not making the deadline, which should in turn refund you.

Hope you get your Vape on soon!

PS - On the health concerns and etc.. Your body will usually tell you when it ingests something it doesn't like. Everyone is different, but 99% say their body like's Vape, and doesn't react well to analogs. It's just that simple.

I'm 52 smoked hard for 30 years. I went to vaping in Nov 2009, and immediately felt better. I play competitive tennis 3-4 times a week, and though tennis is a sport where your heart rate spikes up and down quickly, within 2 weeks I was covering more ground on the court, and stamina was increasing daily.

Unfortunately, I suffered a herniated disk injury playing this last Summer, and reverted to analogs while I was not exercising. Within 2 weeks, I felt like Hell!

So, new eCig Kit (Ego-T which I don't like the Atty's, so ordered a new Ego-C today), and back off the analogs. 3 days back in, already breathing/sleeping better once again.

My only issue with eCigs is NIC overload. I vape so hard I have to put the damn stick down every once in awhile.

Good luck in your efforts, and keep your Vape On!

That's great to hear, RedZone. I know what you mean about physically feeling bad on the cigs. As soon as I began vaping, I had the same turnaround as if I stopped smoking cold turkey without e cigs. The vapor is now much more enjoyable than cigs were, and clean.

I was looking at the Egos too and I have to say they look like a top-notch quality product. I hope you like the other atty!

As far as FedEx, yes, I found they lost my package, but the guy I spoke with on the phone was very responsive, and put a trace on the package. They are supposed to contact me tomorrow, and if it doesn't turn up, he said they would take care of it with V2. I completely understand things like this happen, as any time you ship something there is always a risk. I do think their system of notification could be better. But hey, the kit will get here, and V2 just needs verification from FedEx after the package search.

Apparently the FedEx rep I talked to last night was right on it. I had a feeling, since he seemed more responsive than previous reps (to their credit, all were friendly). Apparently, it was scanned in my city an hour ago, according to tracking. Looks like he found it when he put a trace on it!

So, the verdict is- a rare lost package is understandable. The only issue has been with handling the problem, but apparently that has been corrected now.

Ok, I'm going to quit blathering and using this thread as review of shipping services. :)

Hope everyone is well this morning!
