Hi guys. I have gotten alot of pointers here on recipes and flavors. Just wanted to ask a quick question about 80/20 VG/PG. Is the flavors at 5% TFA on a max vg recipe would taste a little "not there"? Somehow is it anyway to enhance the flavors? I understand that max pg is the best to bring out flavors but is there any way to increase the flavor taste? I use 2mg/ml pg based nic and added 1% sucralose 10% DW. I steep atleast a week. Havent experimented longer because i have a problem doing more than a week, which is "patience" (lol). I am just curious IF i increased the flavors to 7-10% will it effect throat hits or any other bad side effects to my vape? I tried 50/50 on the same TFA flavor the flavor is there, sweetness is there but i am not satisfied with the cloud results. Any inputs?

Higher VG mixes DO NOT require more flavor they require more steeping time. VG is not as good a carrier as PG thus it takes longer for the flavoring to mix through and bond with the VG molecules. It's nothing more then a waiting game. Adding DW to thin it will help but what helps even more is heat and agitation such as steeping in a crock pot and shaking occasionally or steeping in an ultrasonic cleaner.

I've been thinking about this "max-vg doesn't need more flavoring, just more steeping" statement of many, and i'm beginning to think that maybe a slight bit more flavoring could be called for still, since the weight of the liquid is higher, meaning lets say we add 5% flavoring, which lets say is 5g. Then adding that 5 gram into a base that weighs more would in my thinking dillute the flavor also more, and not only call for added steeping. If the bases weighted the same, but one was thicker than the other(meaning less of the max-vg compared to e.g. a 50/50), then it would take the same flavor but more steeping, but here we have not only thicker base but also more weight...

This is purelly theoretically and not from experience, and if i'm way off then I apologise in advance... :) (...and i'm reffering to more flavor if the flavor percentage recommendation was based off a non max-vg base. If it was the other way around, then less flavor should be used, if i'm correct about this?)

No, you either do what Danny stated i.e. wait or some speedsteep technique like crockpot/ultrasonic-cleaners, or just hot bath and shakes etc. Or, if you are the impatient type, like many around here also are, then they simply up the flavoring to minimize steeping. There are many around here which uses 30% flavoring, exactly because of that, and you asked if there where any issues with this, and the answer is no, except (a) you need to change wicks/coils or reburn more often, and (b) there is the issue about we don't really know how inhalling food flavors will influence our lungs in the long run, and hence, many prefer to use as little flavoring as possible, but other than that, then flavor on as you please :)

I don't really think you will have the exact same flavor profile, because the vg or pg adds a flavor of there own. After enough steeping you will get full flavor saturation, but in my experience, e.g. fruit flavors tastes better in pg mixes, because the alcohol and bitter notes of pg really brightens the flavor up.

Not that you cannot get a good fruit vape out of vg heavy mixes, but still, something to think about...

On the other side, in my experience, bakery/desert/custard type mixes go very well in vg heavy mixes, because the sirupy sweet richness of the vg adds a good background depth to it...

You will just have to experiment...

I did experimented but still i have this one big problem "patience" lol

I tried strawberry cheesecake and it taste kinda a little not there. Its a little neutral, slight sweetness but the flavor is just not there. With pg its more but then the TH is unbearable for me at 6mg. I heard that creamy mixes do give u a little more TH. But then according to danny coz i didnt steep long enough hence the harshness. Also i learned the hard way on the harshness topic. So now i am doing a 100ml batch for two new recipes i made and these i am gonna AGE it like ....en wine lol. 3 months steep and see how it goes. Each week i'll check and shake everyday. I hope this would taste alot better coz i am starting to think i might be a good bartender but i suck at diy ejuices lol

The throat-hit is solely a function of the nicotine, which vg mutes and pg lets out unadulturated. Some flavors can add throat-irritations additionally, but throat-hit is a nic property...

Try 3mg instead and/or change your nic source to a low TH nic like chemnovatic(vt, pink-mule, molinshop or inawera's base) or nudenic.

It's only few flavors which needs 3 month steeping, so I would suggest that you simply need to up the flavoring. 5% sounds a little low allready for tfa to me...
