Has anyone tried the 808 dual coils from MadVapes?

So far, in my 3+ year vaping experience, SmokTec's 1.5 ohm dual coils with an eGo or Riva batt has been my favorite. I use a 5 volt passthrough when I'm at home and they will work with an adapter, but I really gotta watch 'em because they get really hot and passthroughs can be a little tricky (have had them decide to just stay on while I'm not vaping and have ruined a couple, along with the carto).

I don't always get the best performance when using an adapter, so I'd rather not bother with them.

The only sturdy, dependable passthrough I've found is the one from V4L. I like both the auto and the manual. The one from SmokelessImage seems to be sturdy, but I've only had it for about a week. It works fine with Volt cartos, but still seems to be a little too much power for them. (Kinda washes out the flavor.)

I seem to prefer the 1.5 dual coils at lower voltages, like the eGo/Riva.

Wish I could find a decent, without an in-line battery, 3.7ish passthrough, preferably with a 510 connection. But if the 808 dual coils work as well as the 510 ones and catch on, a lower voltage 808 passthrough would be fine. I have one from SmokelessImage for use with Volt cartos (like Bloog), but it won't work with an 808/901>510 adapter. I've even fiddled with the post on the passthrough and the adapter and still no go. I use a USB 2 amp wall plug for passthroughs and I did get it's "powering light" to flicker a bit after fiddling with the passthrough and adapter posts, but still can't get it to work enough for power to get to the dual coil carto.

I haven't been able to find any reviews on MadVapes 808 dual coils. So, maybe I'll have to be the one to test them.

Sure would appreciate any feedback. I'd like to order them today.

MadVapes 808-D Dual Coil Clear Cartomizer

Just wondering which they are....Clear or Stainless?
pics show clear

description says stainless
MadVapes 808-D Dual Coil Clear Cartomizer
Item Id: 3155
Your Price: $2.00

Description
MadVapes Dual Coil Stainless Cartomizer 1.5 +-.2 ohm
Each Cartomizer contains dual 3.2 ohm coils in parallel giving a total resistance of approximately 1.6 ohms.
These produce great amounts of vapor due to the greater heating area of the dual coils but have less potential to burn due to the higher individual resistance of each coil. (They'll still burn if they run dry) These hold about 40+ drops of e-liquid. New improved filler material is more absorbent. Approximately 46mm long by 9.55mm in diameter.

more than likely clear being that is what is shown in pics....let us know after you get them to test :)

btw COV has the steel for sure KR808D1 Dual Coil Cartomizers - Steel

You are probably running into power supply limitations, and if you weren't you would probably hit PT issues.

A good, standard, recommended USB PS is 2A for a true passthrough (one without inline battery or regulator), but even that is only good for cartos to 2.5 ohms (5V USB voltage / 2.5 ohm = 2 amps draw).

Trying to use a 1.5 ohm carto at 3.7V or higher you really need to make sure the power supply and PT are designed for it. In a classic simple PT, 5V/1.5 ohms = 3.3 amps, 16.7W. I don't recall seeing any USB PS rated for 3.3A (3300 mA), at the very least that's quite uncommon.

Even if the PT includes regulation circuitry, 3.7V output, 3.7/1.5 = 2.5 amps, 9.1W, again over the typical limit of 2A that I've run into in USB PS.

Before trying 1.5 ohm cartos on a PT, definitely worth explicitly asking the PT vendor if their product can handle that kind of current (switches, any regulator, etc.), as well as hunting down a specific USB PS that can deliver the needed current. The PS light flickering is it complaining -- you're overdriving the PS, it can't deliver the current you're trying to get from it.
