Is pretty much everyone using the 510 (ego) style connections? i've been thinking about switching to 808, and wondered if anyone here has some feedback on that.

Most switch from 808 to 510, not the other way around. The number of delivery choices are far greater with 510. Plus, the available power sources are greater with the 510. Eventually the 808 will become the betamax of the vaping age.
Yes, 510 and eGo are the most popular attachment connectors, by far, but they are also two different things. Fortunately most (like the Vision Spinner, eGo Twist, etc.) have BOTH. 808 was outdated, in my opinion, when they first appeared a few years ago and 510 quickly took over.

I started with and still use 808's and like them and will use them until my current supplies run out. Since I am acquiring deceives that are 510 ego, I can do everything I did with the 808 plus use them on the APV's. So everything I have will match with everything else I have.
Just easier to keep all Your supplies in check, when there is less of it to stock and maintain.

510 is the most popular threading and thus far more R&D is in that area. New products are generally 510 with 808 copies being released afterwards. I've had my 510+ 808 threading Mech Mod for 1 1/2 yrs and have never had an 808 accessory on it.
I actually prefer the design of the 808 over the 510. One is able to stand cartos, etc. up on a desktop. RBAs too, if there were such a thing. Alas, I have joined the 510 crowd, though I've yet to convert my home-brewed mod to that. ...may soon.
What he said, except I don't have the time to do more than rebuild Nova heads, all my home-brewed-mod stuff is in a drawer, along with my knitting needles, lace bobbins, flintknapping kit, half-made gourd drum, etc.
One thing not always mentioned is that the non-vv 808's are typically voltage-regulated so that the vape stays the same throughout most of each charge cycle, so it's a more-predictable vape than 510s on BEGINNER stuff.
However, now that Smokeless Image has 808 Spinners, I suspect I might have stayed with 808's for a LOT longer, just using 808-510 adaptors for the ViVi Nova.
But long term, almost all of the advanced stuff is 510, often also with eGo threading, often not. Just 510 on a lot of the replaceable-battery mods. So I cannot see switching back, but I might get an 808 spinner for my nephew since the rest of his family has my old 808 stuff as hand-me-downs.
