So I was enjoying my brand new Topvapor mocha latte juice in my 901 (SLB from MV). All of the sudden, I was encountered with a horrible burning taste. When I looked inside the atty, I could see a few tiny threads sticking out from underneath the wick/bridge. So i started to pull the thread and the next thing I know a big chunk of some kind of string came out. Is there supposed to be any kind of string or fabric inside the atty? I thought it was mostly metal construction. I've never used anything like this as a cart filler material - only polyfill and PTB. Is it supposed to be in there??? I tore apart an old disposable 510 atty and never saw anything like this in there. Here's a pic of part of what I pulled out with needle-nose pliers, sorry it's so small:

I cleaned the atty out under hot water then tried a dry burn, which was unsuccessful. Then I tried boiling it followed by a dry burn, again unsuccessful in completely ditching the taste. Now I've got it in a bowl of crest pro health to sit overnight, hoping I can save it, but it may just be a goner.:(

It looks like the wick that was attached to the metal bridge. The wick helps the juice get down to the coil where it can vaporize.

I think it is the wicking material you've pulled out. What I don't understand is how a 510 disposable may not have this?

If it was the wick... and you get the atty working again... you should use it only to "drip" onto as now it will have a harder time getting juice.

Anyone correct me if I'm mistaken.

Yes, the threads are the wick. For future reference try not to pull them out. If you see them loose, try and tuck them out of the way. (I know, easier said than done.)

Without the wick the atty is no good for carts, but is supposed to be way better for dripping. Some actualy pull the wick out of new attys so that it never gets burnt.

thanks. i may have just not seen it on the 510. i pretty much just yanked the bridge off with pliers. its odd that it burned like that though because i had just dripped 2 drops and was only on the second drag when it toasted. maybe need to be careful with this juice

I ended up doing the same thing you did. My first PV was a 901 and it was great but just didn't give me the hit that the 510s do. When my 510 arrived.... well.... I haven't touched the 901 since.

I was frequently getting that horrible taste you mentioned also. I think it was dry/burnt coil taste. I started dripping into the atty only. Since I moved to the blue foam cart mod... I have no troubles.

Just want to make sure you give the atty coil time to soak in the juice so that you don't get the bad taste.

I'm what I would consider a heavy vaporer though (yet still only use about 1.5ml of juice per day). So if anyone in here wants to say I suck...... yep..... I do! LoL!

i really do like the extra heat and vapor off the disposable. i think i'm gonna order one of those bauway kits when i get home from work. its getting expensive, but now that i found some juices i like, i think think it will be easy to quitsmoking altogether. today on my way to work i bought my first pack of smokes since monday when i picked up two. For me, thats pretty darn good. BTW, how does doing a burn-off session not fry the wick? sorry for any misspellings and poor punctuation, typing on cell phone is a huge PITA
