Hi everyone! Here's a trick question for you!

I have an 801 battery with the blue tip. Yesterday, I noticed that while it was charging, the light at the end of the battery was red and it stayed on and would not go off. I removed it from the charger, let it sit overnight - the darned thing is still glowing red 12 hours later and will not go off. I have wiped the threaded end with alcohol, I have blown through the holes, done everything that I can think of. I'm pretty sure that it is shot- but what is activating the battery and why is it red and not blue? Any thoughts?

Thanks,
Kim

I have been vaping for 3 weeks really like it. I have been smokeing since I was a kid and all of the guys were trying to get in to my oldest sisters knickers. They would let me hang with them thinking if they got close to me it would help with my sister. I am now 57. I am getting with the batts for the 901 they suck. The usb passthru is great. I dont want to keep running through batts. I have had three screw up. The led lights up but no vape or I have to suck so hard and then I get juice in my mouth. I can take the same atty connected to my passthru and plenty of vape. Would going to 3.7 volt mod solve

Thanks for the info and prompt response. I've been holding mine like a pipe, cupping the base (just trying to separate it from cig smoking more and more as I go) so covering the carb hasn't been a problem. I'd say it's about the same in terms of force of draw required as my wife's. Sometimes it feels like I have to pull harder.

To be honest, the more I am using it the more I am having different little problems with it. My wife's (albeit used much less frequently than mine has been) is just churning along and gives consistent smoke output throughout a cartridge, etc, etc. Mine gets to be real weak in the throat hit and amount of vapor very easily. I can remedy that in short term with my newly acquired juice by keeping the atty coil primed and the cart freshly topped off.

Just a bit disconcerting the noticeable differences in performance between mine and the wifey's. I can deal with it to a point as I recognize the qc may not be great on these things and there will be some variance. But, I'm also trying to determine if my atty might be a bit of a dud before my 14 day warranty expires :) Sadly, the company I purchased from was great during the order and shipping. But, I've not had any response to my queries over several days.

Maybe I'll just pick up a new 901 atty from somewhere else. Need to have a couple extras anyways... Just got in "cheap" to start and now that I'm finding it's working out well for me (the vaping thing)... anyways... getting a bit rambly

thanks again. anyone recommend a good place to pick up genuine 901 atty's for good prices? or places where I know I'm getting the real thing and average price for them?

later,
Jason

Rhamzha, here's a last ditch effort. If you haven't done so yet, try swapping parts with your wife's kit, meaning try your atomizer on her batteries and see if they flash the same way and try her atomizer on your batteries and see if your batteries continue to act up. If her batteries start acting funny, then we may have narrowed it down to your atomizer. If your batteries continue to act up with her atomizer, we may have narrowed it down to your batteries.

If we can't get this figured out, my other suggestion would be to steal your wife's kit! ;)

thanks everybody. yes, my husband came home, looked at it and held it in and then turned. i thought it was magic!!!

so now, my battery is being charged. and i got and am also charging the manual battery.

so tomorrow, i try it out!

thanks again!!!:)

ahhh....see....we men are good for something!! :D

Kim, have you tried giving it a good tap? If not, hold the battery with the atomizer connection end down (led sid up) and give it a good tap on your counter-top or what have you to see if it is a sticky switch that is causing it. Unfortunately, if this is the case, you should probably start considering a replacement since sticky switches are very difficult to resolve. :(

coolone1, quite possibly. however, if you are connecting your pass-through to your computer, there is a good chance that you are experiencing "high-voltage" vaping since your computer's USB port is running at 5 volts....what we don't know is it's amperage (current) flow. So, with that said, you could try a manual battery, which is the equivalent of your idea of a 3.7 volt mod, as a cheaper way to decide if a mod is what you want. Also, what we don't know is whether you are using an automatic pass-through or a manual pass-through. If you are using a manual, then you should definitely consider trying a manual 901 battery.

<phew> lots of concerns. hope I've been a little helpful folks and I hope we get your concerns resolved so that you can enjoy your vape in peace! :)

I have been using a manual passthru. Right now I am experiencing good vaps. I dont know what is the matter with 901 batts but it is frustrating. I tried the staple mod but fried a good batt.

sorry for the delay....haven't been as active in this forum as I used to be. :(

hopefully you've resolved your dilemma....but if not, here's my thoughts:

Okay....we now know you are using a manual passthru, but we still don't know what kind of current your USB port is putting out. The staple mod was originally posted for battery mods where we were using other electrical items as connectors. You have to be careful using them in factory batteries since the center post (positive) floats in a thin (ack...brainfart...can't remember what it's called!) that prevents it from touching the outside (negative). The staple mod, in this usage, could easily cause the center post to get moved enough to make contact with the negative outer side and short out.

My suggestion would be to still consider trying out a manual battery. Is there another vaper in your area? Is there a vendor in your area? Is there a vaper group in your area? These would all be quick and easy methods for trying out a manual battery. You would then be in a better position to make an informed decision on purchasing a battery mod.
