I dont know. What would you guys say is the best overall, all around type e cig? the 901? I was gonna buy a smoke51, but it doesnt seem like many people tried it here. I was thinking smoke51 has the new v9 product and that maybe its a superior product on the market right now. they say the battery lasts a long time etc. Any recommendations on a good supplier and good model for someone who wants to try and quit smoking using e cigs

The 901 is the gold standard of e-cigs. Every e-smoker has one, or has had one. There are new products out now that may rival it, m401 in particular, but you can hardly ever go wrong with a DSE901.

I used the same 901 for 3 months and the only problem i had was that 1 of the battries died on me ....Still the same automizer and still 1 origanal bat.... A little tip about the battries ..... If your light keeps flashing etc when not conected to anything, then give the screw end a good hard tap on a hard surface as their is a switch in their ...A bit like a realy that controls your car head lights.... Somtimes they get stuck and i have found a good hard tap sometimes works.

Thanks guys for the advice, I am in the USA, nyc to be exact. What is the m401?

So far from what i gather, there is the penstyles, 901's and like the mini versions.

One thing I have to say, I have not seen anything so far like the smoke51's device. What exactly is it? It doesnt seem to fit any of the product models discussed here. I realize its a v9 loongtotem or whatever. But are there any other companies selling that v9 model?

Im curious about the model because it says the battery is new and lasts long, and the cartridges last 2-3 packs. Plus its the only i got to try at the mall near me, and it seemed cool. looks like a cigarette etc. Smoke felt real.

but at their prices i might try the 901 that has been recommended here. are all 901's the same, or does it really matter which vendor u choose?

Sorry for all the questions and long posts, just trying to make sense of it all. thanks again to everyone who has helped me thru the decision making process.

a video review of the m-401 HERE by some strange fella with a tache ;)

to be honest with you paladinx i havent tried smoke51 or loontotem v9 but if you have never used an e-cig before then definatley go for the 901. it's a great performer and a good price, hold back buying the overpriced stuff for the moment until you decide e-cigs are for you, and you do a bit of research, could save you a small fortune.

DSE-901 are a generic e-cig if it's called a dse-901 it doesnt matter where you get it from it will be the same.

and don't go believing that 1 cart = 1 pack rubbish either , that's just a twisting of the truth to get you to buy it. a 901 cartridge is equal in real terms to around 5 - 7 real cigarettes. I know loong totem are supposed to give more but not 2 - 3 Packs ( 40 - 60 cigarettes )

The M401 is a supermini, about the same size of the smoke51. There are some reviews on here, I'm just not sure how to link to them. BTW, the cartridges WILL NOT LAST 2-3 PACKS!!! EVER!!! Don't listen to them, complete horsesh*t. Ask anyone on here. 4-7 cigarettes more or less for a e-cig that size. Always get bottles of refill e-liquid, extra empty cartridges, and a spare atomizer and perhaps battery with your purchase. If you are comitted to a DSE901, check out www.thesmokelessshop.com, The ultimate DSE901 kit, you get your extras, plus a case and a syringe for adding or extracting liquid from your carts. Check the suppliers list for other sites. I can personally vouch for thesmokelessshop.com, puresmoker.com, and litecigusa.com, they are all wonderful to deal with. Excellent service.

thanks for the reply .. and the references. Wow only 5 to 7 cigs per cartridge? them saying 2 packs would be a blatant lie, Unless they have something new. would be cool if someone on here actually owned a smoke51/v9 loong, who could verify this.

Is there anyone on this forum who owns one of these ?

Sincerely.

paldinx,

I think the members here are just trying to save you some money. I mean, the 51 is rather pricey for a starter...especially until you really get the feel of the esmoking.

So for $150, you get 2 carts with atomizers. How long will they last? Do you see the price of replacement cartridges....5 for $15? How often will you need to buy those?

And after you try this, you will most likely be tempted to try other devices....it's kind of like the nature of the beast. Newer and better things are always coming out. If you spend that much money now....well....

A lot of people here have tried a lot of things and although the combo cart/atomizer might sound tempting, most would probably still not endorse it as "a superior product".

To me, it sounds like you are pretty much sold on the 51. If so, then go for it. Then you may learn the hard way as many of us do.

Best wishes, whatever your choice.

Paladinx,
First welcome,
You just learned your first E-cig lesson,
Those in the Business of "Selling" E-cigs are over priced and Full of it most times.
On the other hand, Enthusiests that sell like most of the suppliers that are members here, will tell the truth and help where they can.

The Loongtotum brand has been reviewed in here a few places, and thats all that thing is. They just slap a Branding sticker on the box.

The 901 is a good all around E-Smoke.
There are some that are larger, some last longer, some better made, some look like a Smoke, otheres like a Pipe, one like a Screwdriver, hehe, the 901 is fine to start, if it doesnt cover everything you want them to do, you then will have to decide how you want to use them, and stay with it, or expand your collection like a lot of us do weekly :)

One tip we tell everyone, try to order spare parts, another Atomizer and a bottle of Juice at least with your first Kit.

Good Luck

Thanks guys. Well im not necessarily sold on 51. I am curious about the product because it was the only one I tried at the mall, and it seemed to work good. What im curious about is their claims. If they are out right lying, or if there is truth to their claims. For example. They say one cartridge should last you the entire day, if you are a heavy smoker. That you should get at least a pack of cigs out of one cartridge, because they say their filters are different and the product is different from others.

Why im still interested, They gave me a 50 dollar price break off of it, and a 2 week guarantee that I could return the product in 2 weeks for a refund if I do not like it. now are they lying about that too? im just being cautious first, and asking around. There making these extraordinary claims that their product is something new and improved. Not sure i believe them fully, but then again they are like the only ones i see that have atomizers built into the cartridge. I mean like it or hate it, it is something new that no one seems to be doing. so perhaps they are doing other new things which are making the cartridges last longer? who knows

i will check the longtootem reviews thanks. Im just wondering if those people actually bought the new v9 model or not. I guess ill take a look. i tried searching before, but it doesnt seem like there are many reviews out there.

regards and thanks

the carts dont last a day. they last about the same as a mini cart unless you want to inhale burning fiber or try and make a success of dripping which is hit or miss. ~15% of the carts dont work out of the box. run time on batteries is piss poor. all this is true unless i landed a uniquely crap batch of 50 carts and 4 batts or Loong or who-ever makes them has improved the design since. Another thing to consider is that they might not operate well with the UK voltage system. This could be the problem - I don't know.

I read a special offer awhile ago also detailing a 2 batt deal which someone had posted on an e-cig related business site. apon contacting the poster of the deal which turned out to be jack, i was directed to the loong site where no such deal exists. on this site, pictures of green cig products were also marketed as loong products. this was false advertising.

you must factor in postage with any price consideration on loong items. it is astronomical. I did manage to reduce the shipping costs though by talking to him on msn and questioning him about it. it still remained large but only half of what it originally was. he had to invoice me separately to reduce the shipping charge.

Also Loong has promised their affiliate smoke51 that they will direct all sales of their product to their site. whether they are still keeping this promise, i don't know.
