lmao so much for an antedote to discord ,music wars !!!!! :)

Agreed! It ain't easy to get people to agree about anything! Growing up, I remember the battles: Love the Beatles! Hate the Beatles! Love the Stones! Hate the Stones! And of course it's like that in every realm. Personally, I can only praise a song with the melodic and lyrical power of 'Imagine' although I've probably heard it enough for one lifetime. The same applies to 'Stairway to Heaven', 'Hotel Calif', 'Good Vibrations', yada yada. :2cool:

The sizzling guitars, both acoustic and electric, and those haunting lyrics ('dark desert highway...') were made for the road. Or a road-like mood.

Another fave of mine for cross-country scoots was 'America' by Simon & Garfunkel, later re-worked beautifully by Yes. Even brought tears to my eyes once. And let's not forget the power of Floyd's 'Dark Side...' on a lonely country road under a starry sky. Man oh man, such good stuff.

(Plant, exactly the kind of bonding you wanted, right? You're a smart one.)

I totally agree ....i was a teen in the 70s and could go a lifetime and never hear stairway again ,along with hotel cal ,pink floyd etc .Love ac/dc ,all years .Love older country ,despise the new stuff .Speaking of later years I also really have worn out one cd from Mick Jagger on his own and we still have old cds from keith richards solo .Hubby and son listen to stuff so hard and obscure you cannot find it on the radio ....drives me nuts lol .Considerin Def Leopard tickets for my bd in a nearby outdoor venue :) Seems funny to be closer to 50 then 40 and like it still but again ,it all came out when i was younger ! Love the crowds when they range from 20's to 60's :) its a blast .
p.s. jeffree ...love me some simon and garfunkel ....songs about America : Waylon Jennings'America ..whoop whoop "well i come from down round tennessee ,but the people in california are nice to me ....america .." great road song .:)
