Well, it seems that the new members forum is the proper place to introduce myself. I just singed up to join this forum because I am considering a diy mod and I'm sure I'm going to have a ton a questions about it so I need to be able to post.
About me: I have been smoking since I was 20 and am now 48. For years I was about a 1 1/2 pack a day guy, but in the past 2 years since I have been working from home that's escalated to 3 packs a day. VERY expensive in Minnesota and I drove down to Iowa which is an hour round trip as much as I could. Still, I figure I was spending somewhere in the neighborhood of $650.00 / month on smokes.
I have been in the vaping game for exactly 11 days. I was going to order a Blu to get things started and test the waters with e-cigs and my buddy stopped me from that telling me basically that I would hate it and would keep smoking. This lead me to research, and a TON of research is what I have done. I've read, read, read, and read, and I have watched, watched, watched, and watched as much as I can. In the initial days of reviews I figured I had read enough to get me started and decided on a Vapor 4 Life Zeus.
When I hooked it up and gave it a shot, I was nearly chocked to death because I had ordered 36mg juice and the Zeus runs at roughly 10 amps (2.5 single ohm coil on a 5 volt battery). A big HELLO to the vaping world! I stuck with it, ordered about 15 juices of different nic mg's and found that there was a good compromise and this might possibly work.
The very first day I cut my smoking down from 3 packs a day to less than 2. Hey we're on to something here! By the 3rd day after reading and watching some more, I realized that I was going to at a minimum need a VV device. The Zeus is great but I grew tired of wasting carts so quickly as I searched for a juice I would like and have as an all day vape. I know the Zeus gets lots of recs for a first time device but I have to say, I would disagree with this because first timers dont know what juice is going to work for them. Its a very long process and each time, you waste a cart. Yes yes, I've heard they can be cleaned and reused but I never had much luck with that.
By day 4 I realized this was kick ... and might actually work to get me off the stinkies. Somewhere in this time frame I ordered a Provari. I figured if the zeus was working that well, then the Provari would be the end of the bs (the zeus is just TOO strong for my morning smoke). I got the Provari today, love it, had a few issues with the Iclear 30 single coil when I started messing around with the bottom of it and dumping juice all over my lap while driving hahah, but the bottom line is ...... today I had 9 smokes. 9! down from 60 a day.
I'm hooked, and now I'm thinking about making a mod for my friend using the dna 30 chip but thats another story and the reason I signed up .. hoping to get mod help.
