Hey all, I wanted to send a sincere thank you to all of you. Not just those of you who have helped me the past couple of days with building a PT coil and cotton wicking...but ALL of you for helping everyone that you do. I've never seen an online community like this and, in fact, not been a part of an online community for years (not even Facebook--I hate it). But the common bond here and the kind, kind people makes this a wonderful place to hang out.

This morning I'm vaping on my 1.6ohm handmade PT coil with cotton wick...BG...beautiful vapor, great taste...not sure it's better than Silica at the moment but hey, I'm new to it, and I'm also still recovering from tobacco taste bud damage, probably. But that's less the point for me. I went from smoking over a pack of bugler a day to being smoke free for over 2 weeks in just a months time. And in that months time, I've become a cult member for NT, OBSESSED WITH THESE JUICES!, and I'm making my own coils and wicks for pennies. The cotton seems to irritate my throat more than the silica, but I'll probably get used to it :)

To become as self-sufficient as possible with vaping is a goal for me. And as I get better at this and more familiar with vaping and juices, you'd better believe I'll help anyone I see on here with their questions just as you all have helped me.

If any of you are ever in the Adirondacks, hit me up. I live and work at a historical Adirondack Great Camp and you'll have the opportunity to come and see this marvelous place, and vape in the Japanese Tea House!! I'll even provide the vape and tea for you :)

Again, thanks everyone. So happy to have found vaping, NT, and this forum.

Vape on! Have a WONDERFUL day!! :headbang::headbang: IMG_3460.jpg

Congrats on two weeks, pretty big milestone right there! Although, do give yourself some time, your body is still probably trying to figure out what just happened and might still need to adjust. Mine took almost a month and a half so there will be times you just feel "off." It will pass though, just with time. Congrats again.

Glad to hear you got the coils working! Practice makes perfect. It quickly goes from a PITA to a fun hobby. I can wrap and wick a PT2 in about 7 minutes. My very first one took about 9 attempts and almost a full day lol. And, yes, peeps on this forum are the nicest of the nice. Just don't ask what a REO is lol

Fairtrade I think you will find vapers pretty much as a whole are a big family. As you wander the forums you will see this. Sure there will be the occasional flame war break out (not here) but that is human nature.

I would love to get back to the north country sometime for leaf season. I spent 5 years a little north of you in Plattsburg when I was in the Air Force. Beautiful country, but dang it gets cold.

Congrats on the two weeks, just one day at a time man, just one day at a time.

The most drama you will probably get in the NT forum is people angling for an SR return. LMAO

I think you're on the right track to self-sufficiency... reliance on inconsistent, over-priced, Chinese factory made heads is no bueno.

Welcome (again) to the fam - a welcome addition to the NuT house! ;)

Congratulations on your positive progress! If you are progressing this fast, it won't be long and you will be wanting new hardware. Do a lot of research before you buy anything. You can spend a lot of money very quickly and end up with stuff that you don't use. Ask me how I know :)

If you want to pm me your address, I can send you some rayon that will work much better than cotton in those Protanks. Won't cost you a penny and you can try it out. The rayon does not add any flavor the way cotton does. Just let it sit in the juice for 10 minutes after installing and you are good to go! Your coils will last longer because the rayon wicks the juice better than cotton so it does not gunk up as bad. Your hand made coils last longer than the factory ones anyway, but this will extend them even further.

Thank you and that is SO kind of you! I've read a little bit about Rayon but not much - sounded like, for some reason I got the impression Rayon should only be used by advanced / experienced vapers. Did I misunderstand? as again, I haven't looked into it much :)

my replies will be sparse today FYI but I'm around - change over day at camp, lots to do, eek! *puffs BG*

The hardest thing is it needs to be a bit thicker than cotton and it's hard to roll the leading part into a point as it's slippery. Otherwise it's good, I love it in my bottom fed attys and my dripping atty as it is much better in there when you have a dry hit.

Cotton dry hit: OMG!!! MY SINUSES!!!! MY LUNGS!!!! I'M GOING TO DIE!!! THE PAIN, THE BURNING!!!! AHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!

Cellocotton/rayon dry hit: Hmmmm, no taste, huh....Oh! Yeah, need to drip/squonk again. Huh, okay...*shrug*

haha, I had a few dry hits on cotton so far, pretty bad x.x

It seems like my wick in Gravity is going bad but I'm not sure how much of it is that and how much is that I'm getting used to the taste so it seems weaker. No burnt hit, just...weaker flavor, and it's not popping/crackling as much. Still loads of vapor though. Still a sign the wick needs replacing soon? I hope it can hold til the end of the tank so it's a perfect transition to Strawnilla :D

When a wick gets "quiet" I replace it as it's going to need replacing soon anyway. Even if you just replaced it. That is now happening on my CTR tank I just re-wicked. Usually for me that means the wick is too thick...

Congrats on your accomplishment! That's so AWESOME!

Side note - the cotton for me seems to "soak" up the nic more so it could just be that you need to step down with cotton on nic. When I started building coils I could tell it with the cotton. I can still do 12mg with silica though. It doesn't hit the same for me.
