The Tugg website declined my (only) debit card ... :(

After my previous ticket purchase was voided at the request of a sponsor, I sent Tugg customer service a rather strongly worded email expressing my displeasure with a business that accepts payment for a product, and then rescinds the transaction in favor of a later purchase by a preferred customer ... :glare:

Guess they don't love me anymore ...

Also, 121 additional reservations required within a 4 day deadline seems like a difficult ticket threshold, but I do hope that the event is validated, for the sake of San Diego area vapers ... :vapor:

@rico942 Man that sucks that you are having trouble getting tickets.

The San Diego showing now only needs 19 tickets in 2 days so hope that it happens. Here is the link again for the showing so it is current and people don't have to search back. Come on San Diego we need less that 20 tickets to validate. Hope it will happen.

This probably a dumb question, but is there any way to get tickets other than Tugg ?

I would think not since that is the website the event is created on. I looked at the FAQ and didn't see anything about that. If you are interested in going and can't get a ticket I could get one for you.

really wish I'd have had brains enough to reserve the 2nd post spot and pm'd a mod once a week or something with all the posted shows and ask them to edit it to insert them. Aggravated at myself when I don't think of things like that. @sonicdsl would you be willing to put them in my first post once in awhile if I go through the thread and pm them to you?

No problem. Just PM a list whenever you need a change. :)

Really appreciate the offer, but I am a disabled senior, and no longer drive except for very short local trips. That's why having my ticket to the Carlsbad showing was so disappointing to me ... :(

Maybe there will be another in North County within my travel radius ...

I drove 2.5 hours up to Beverly Hills to see this at Laemmle Music Hall.
Because, yeah, I also failed at getting into the Carlsbad showing.

It is a very good documentary, and a good exposé.
It is a powerful indictment of those that want to kill vaping.

But I know you frequent the same sub-forums I do, and are well-informed.

There was nothing new for me in the movie.
I knew who almost every person was, and was familiar with what they had to say.

So for you, and only someone like you, you aren't missing too much.
But I still hope you get to see it sooner rather than later.
:)

I expect that'll be the case for several of us. But so glad you got to see it. I imagine there won't be much/any new for me, but I still really wanna see it.

I think my days of advocacy may be numbered. Despite bringing promo material to 20 different vape shops, pimping my movie showing on social media, hitting up my friends here from Michigan.. 23 tickets sold, 5 of which are me. That is a whopping 18 tickets for 20 stop and begs, imposing on my peers to help out, soliciting here. I've WORKED it.

I don't doubt that 95 tickets could be sold if the VAPE shops worked it, but to be honest, in my experience, they are by FAR the most apathetic link in the chain. I think when they got into it, it had to be with the idea to make what they can as long as they can, and then whatever. It's sad how little they really seem to care about what is coming for them. Downright stupid.

Yeah, I started feeling that way about three years ago.
It kinda sucks, doesn't it?

How frustrating! Still, thank you for all your efforts and dedication.

Thanks, Cathy. as you say, frustrating.

The plan was to hit em all again and bring cardboard shaming signs ( "I can't even motivate 5 vapers"), but then I got called out of town on a customer's 911 call.. I just can't do it all, as much as I would like.

Not as worried about present vapers or soon to be. We have the luxury of stocking up. I just refuse to believe that this option, as we know it, could disappear for smokers and future smokers.

I'm so sorry to hear this darlin. It's really pathetic that vape shops won't get behind this. Bless ya for all you do though!

Apparently I have the opposite problem you have @LouisLeBeau. I visited three vape shops the other day with a self made "poster". All agreed to help promote to their customers, but the second shop I went to is a local juice co where the owner is actually a founding memeber of the SFATA North Carolina as well as a founding member of the NC Vaping Council!! Really glad I went there. He's very active in the political vaping scene and wants to make this a red carpet event with media and politicians. When I spoke to the Tugg rep, she said 1. I should not contact the theatre because the management would not be able to approve such an event 2. she could help to arrange media before the show and 3. will not provide me a number to speak with her directly saying they only want to communicate by e-mail due to the high volume of traffic they get. Now, that shop owner wants me to reach out to the theatre directly and questions the legitimacy of Tugg. I mentioned they had events like this running in cities around the country. What do you guys think I should do? Should I go against the Tugg rep and talk to the venue? I do feel getting help from this owner will allow us to meet the min ticket sales...

I don't know much about Tugg, but heck yeah I'd go with what the guy at the vape shop says! I imagine Tugg says not to contact the venue, just cuz they won't be any help and they don't want a buncha folks bugging theaters and tellin em Tugg told em to. But the theater mgr would love the free publicity

Tugg.com is an interesting business model. But while I find their niche interesting and smart, I don't know that their model fits OUR hope that the movie goes mainstream.

It is a great venue for indie type films for niche audiences. But THIS FILM would need a very high profile champion, or become a runaway success to ever grace the marquee. that's not really what we were hoping for.

It seems collusion, corruption, and the sacrifice of lives for profit are not news anymore..

I digress.. to your point, I imagine that Tugg is operating as being a "Frequent Flyer" for booking "private events" at theatres, at a significant discounted rate in exchange for the high ticket count minimum (popcorn sales). If we all engage the theatres to help us sell tickets, this would give some leverage to the big chain theaters in negotiating with Tugg, or be outside of their "agreement"? Whatever, popcorn.

So I called the theatres private showing line to further investigate. They couldn't help me with the actual event but the very helpful girl on the other end gave me some info. She suggested I reach out to the general and district managers and provided their #'s. She mentioned tugg was going through their corporate booking so all details would have to be worked out by them, but the managers may be able to get approval.
I was originally planning to go by there anyway to speak with a manager to see if they'd allow some posters out front. I know it's probably a long shot.
My other thought was to take this story to a news station. Is that not a good idea?
