Hi all, another new (almost!) Reo user here, just placed my order for a Metallic Red Mini 2.1 today :) SO excited... I've been wanting one forever but kept waiting/thinking/"deciding", until I saw there was only one left today and I knew I had to have it. I'm a mech mod + rda user, but dripping + driving is not a good look and I think it'll be nice to not have to manage dripping when out and about. Went with the 2.1 for the smaller pocketable size and wider dripwell, and 18490 size is already my favorite carry in tube mods. I have a lot of experience w/ coils and RDAs, but this'll be my first try with bottom feeding.

  • When squonking, does the connector get wet? I'm planning to use my Vicious Ant BF Cyclone... I've been using the Cyclone as a top-fed dripper and sometimes (too often!) I'll over or mis-drip and the liquid will drip thru/settle in my pv's connector thru the liquid feed hole, severely dropping the performance til I remove it/clean it up. Does the REO's connector get wet with normal use, and is it something to just be used to?

  • I read that the RM2 uses a separate oring that sits in the dripwell (?)... what's that about? :) Should I look into setting an o-ring in the dripwell for the Cyclone, or is it an RM thing? Is there a size I need to look for?

  • Originally, I planned to buy a bunch of the tube kits and was going to swap tubes and bottles w/ each liquid change... but watched the rebuild video and saw the tube is connected with some glue so scrapped that idea in favor of a bunch of bottles instead. Does anyone swap tubes and not use glue? I don't use any super clingy liquids, but favor several that are quite different from one another (chai, mango, banana mint milkshake (!), cinnful pear, irish cream, gingersnap, etc.) Overlapping liquids isn't so bad (I drip/swap flavors in the same RDA all the time) but I'm a short attention span vaper... I swap liquids a lot. The REO is supposed to be my driving setup so I probably won't swap nearly as much as I do when dripping at home/not mobile, but am curious about using the tubing without glue.

  • My current pv has silver plated contacts that are starting to fade/scratch (copper underneath, not so bad ;)) I was planning on buying a silver plating kit and replating them eventually. Would it make any sense to plate REO parts, are there any platable parts in any case? (Firing pin, connector...?) Or just rely on scratching/noalox? I wouldn't think about it except I will already have the kit.

  • Using the Evolv Kick... I'm not really a kick user now (prefer manipulating vape thru wrapping coils + mech mods), but Evolv is coming out with the "Kick 2" soon and it sounds really interesting. I read some have asked to have the housing "pre-scratched" to accommodate a kick but if I needed to "scratch" it myself, how hard is it to do? (Metallic powdercoat?) The Kick 2 apparently has a different set of pins than the Kick 1, so I'm not sure if it'll even work.

  • Any other tips? I'm planning on watching vids while I wait on the mailman (already watched the ones on REOMods' site), any other rec's? Anything else I should have on hand/read before it arrives? (Bought the delrin button + a spare spring in addition to a handful of bottles.)

Phew! Sorry all for the barrage of questions (just imagine, I don't even have my REO yet!) :)

Congrats for getting a REO :) I can try and answer a couple questions but don't worry we have a lot of people who know this stuff by heart. I am just not there yet.

#1 the only thing that gets juice overflow is the well and if it has got too much juice from over squonking then when you tip your reo to vape it could overflow and get inside, be watchful until you learn the squonk technique. If you have a accident no worries because it can be dried/wiped up.

#2 I think it is so you can make sure the air hole on the RM2 is facing away from the direction you hold your REO when you take a hit off it.

Thats all i know for now.

Welcome to REOville!

Using a cotton wick, I squonk the tar out of my REO and have tried to pour any excess out of the drip well just to see if there is any. Hasn't been so far. Pretty much all excess goes back to the tank. Never had a flooded hit either.

The o-rings determine where the hole winds up when you screw the RM2 down. You want the hole facing away from you when the mod is vertical so it will be on top when you vape. That's the reason for using them. I wound up using both.

On switching juices, I blow what's in the tube back into the bottle after loosening it. Taste switches pretty quickly.

I can't say I'd bother silver plating anything.

I feel no need for a kick. The REO is still vaping fine when I've pulled the battery at 3.65 volts at the end of the day. It's wound down a bit (from putting a 60 ring-gauge cigar to shame), but then so have I. I wouldn't want to sacrifice the battery capacity.

Read the stickies. Then read the threads on micro coils.

Welcome to REOville!

I will try to answer some of your questions as well. (Answers are in line with the questions!)

Hi all, another new (almost!) Reo user here, just placed my order for a Metallic Red Mini 2.1 today :) SO excited... Does the REO's connector get wet with normal use, and is it something to just be used to?

Considering that the juice goes through the connector to get into the atty, the answer to your question is: Yes, the connector gets wet with normal use. However, it does not affect anything. It will not affect performance, unless you flood your atty. Then there will be a couple mild hits until you burn it out of your atty and then all will be well again. If you use the RM2 RBA, it is designed to drain the juice back into the bottle after the wick is wet.
  • I read that the RM2 uses a separate oring that sits in the dripwell (?)... what's that about? :) Should I look into setting an o-ring in the dripwell for the Cyclone, or is it an RM thing? Is there a size I need to look for?

I swap liquids a lot. The REO is supposed to be my driving setup so I probably won't swap nearly as much as I do when dripping at home/not mobile, but am curious about using the tubing without glue.

There have been several posts about that on the forum here. The general consensus is that you probably will not have problems if you do not re-glue the tube. My DW (Dear Wife) swaps flavors a lot as well. She has never had any problems with carry over. She has multiple bottles, and simply removes one bottle, blow out the atty, and attach new bottle. All is good.

This also has been discussed. The consensus is that plating the positive battery contact would have no discernible affect on the performance of the REO. Cleaning the contact (both the REO and the battery) is all that is needed. Noalox is highly recommended to ...... ill effects from arcing.

  • Using the Evolv Kick... I'm not really a kick user now (prefer manipulating vape thru wrapping coils + mech mods), but Evolv is coming out with the "Kick 2" soon and it sounds really interesting. The Kick 2 apparently has a different set of pins than the Kick 1, so I'm not sure if it'll even work.

The general consensus here is that the Kick will simply keep the vapor performance from dropping as battery output decreases. The easiest thing to do in this case is to just get a VV Grand and have it built in. Prior to the release of the VVG, kicks were used a bit.
  • Any other tips? I'm planning on watching vids while I wait on the mailman (already watched the ones on REOMods' site), any other rec's? Anything else I should have on hand/read before it arrives? (Bought the delrin button + a spare spring in addition to a handful of bottles.)

The biggest thing I have seen in the forum is the need for using the recommended batteries. Other batteries will work, it is just that it will either decrease the life of the mod, or decrease the life of the vapee. The spring (negative battery contact) is designed to shrink in the event of over heating of the battery. Using non-recommended batteries could adversely effect the operation of this safety feature.

Phew! Sorry all for the barrage of questions (just imagine, I don't even have my REO yet!) :)

Welcome to the group. In the event that I provided any misinformation, I will be corrected quickly by all the helpful people here! I am sure that you will not be disappointed in your acquisition of a REO. I know that I am extremely pleased with mine!

Welcome, oscill8 :)
The Kick is something I wouldn't bother with on the 18490 version...your vape time really takes a hit with it using an 18350. If you really want to use a kick, then I would suggest using it on a Grand where you can use the kick and an 18490. But if you're really wanting to give it a shot...here is a big thread about the kick.
