The genuine PEEK insulator on the current authentic Veritas can take heat down to about 0.2Ω... the earliest version could take around 0.4Ω. The Tobeco clone insulator (white sleeve) will take down to 0.3-0.4Ω... at best.

Metric PEEK nuts can be found at some hobby and electronics supply shops. I got mine (made by Chemis in Japan) through a small group buy where the coordinator bought a bag of 1000 (around $350, I think) from SolidSpot in CA. They are, as far as I can tell, identical to those Faceless (iHybrid) sells.

Anyway I could get some?

I am also interested, if nothing works out I might just look for somewhere to buy a Teflon washer

Mine melted after my second build which 24g @ 0.22ohms. It continues to work but looks like cauliflower:?:

I looked at a couple hobby stores for peek nuts but no go. Still trying to find a lead so I can get a few before mine starts shorting.

Arrgg!!!!!!!

Man, I've been wondering what was the nutty taste in my Veritas clone while vaping berry harvest. I kept changing everything. Cotton and wire and it was still tasting nutty. Finally threw away the cotton and removed the coil and smelled the atty. To my surprise, the nutty taste was coming from that insulator. It smelled nutty. Is this a problem also with the genuine authentic Veritas people? If not! I should just spend the $120 on the real one.[emoji35]

I was reading the thread while waiting for a video to render, and decided to try to search. This will probably be useless tho as I don't own a veritas so apologies in advance.

Anyway..I got lots of results from google when searching for PEEK nuts, such as this one: Skiffy plastic parts, Skiffy metal parts, components

which apparently would send out free samples upon request. just a matter of figuring out the dimensions and thread type?

once again, apologies if I searched for the wrong item, good luck :D

Anyway.. Veritas Insulator – Fyre Fly Ecigs is out of stock but might be worth contacting.

Thnx sunnata! I've found Fyrefly earlier this week and tried to contact them but they never called or emailed me back and now it's Saturday. I'm thinking i'll try to use a "nylon" washer. I've found out that this Veritas clone isn't worth getting if the insulator gets hot and emits a burnt nutty smell and taste @ 1.5ohms on the mini. Wonder if the rest of the clones out there have the same problems. I vape with fruity flavors so I can really distinguish when there's something else present. I'll put this aside and go back to the Nautilus and the Nautilus mini until these insulators become available or some other remedy surfaces. Maybe suck it up and get the real one. One thing I really like is that this thing don't leak.

firefly and mellow moxie carry them. both are out of stock at the moment. mine is melted, but still insulating. no idea how it even melted as my tobeco veritas is coiled at 0.8Ω. i found this thread after searching for one myself. thought i might have been alone with this problem but it looks pretty rampant. sucks because this atty is amazing aside from the poor insulator.

mellow moxie is now in-stock for the veritas insulator. i emailed them yesterday and they put some more in stock. i think its the authentic nut, so im not sure if it will fit on my tobeco but i think it will.

Veritas insulator | Mellow Moxie

also, theres this:

http://solidspot.com/shop/index.php?main_page=product_info&products_id=2474

its 5 M2 threaded PEEK hex nuts for 10 bucks shipped. i believe it to be the correct size. i measured with a caliper last night and the post came in at 1.9mm and the nut outside diameter was 3.9mm. so with 1.9mm ID, i suspect it to work with an M2 size nut, which is 2mm internal diameter.

now all i need to decide is if i want 1 or 5 for basically the same price. i believe both have the same chances of fitting on my tobeco veritas but for some reason im leaning toward mellow moxie. i do appreciate how they added more stock in less than 24 hours after request. but solid spot was also very quick to reply...decisions, decisions

...my third option is just to buy a new tobeco veritas. theyre less than $20, and if im already spending $10 for a nut or 5, maybe i should just buy an entire new unit for less than twice the price of the nuts. that way i have spare parts (except nuts, which might be the only spare part ill ever need)

I say buy the clone again for the parts. Indeed a good idea.
