A Concern about ECig-promotion

I was converted to e-cigs not to stick it to the government, tax man, tobacco companies, but to switch off analogs, breathe fresher air, and save some money (Especially when gas is almost 1.30 a litre here. that's about 5.20 a gallon I think >.<) I kinda feel like a guiney pig, but I am my own guiney pig doing my experiments on myself. Like mad scientists back in the day that would operate on themselves and take their own concotions. I know I'm taking safety into my own hands and thats why I don't recommend e-cigs to ppl unless they truly want to quit for health reasons.

OK, so don't promote it.

The only SAFE thing is to inhale nothing but clean, pure, air. Anything else carries risk.

Do what you are comfortable with.

We tend to rail against government here because most of us would just rather be left alone, to make adult choices for ourselves rather than have someone else make them for us. If you feel differently, that's your choice.

i'm agreeing with Hoosier.

here's my take...

i smoked regular cigs for like, 30 years or so. i quit with the patch (that anyone can buy at WALMART) a few times. twice in the hospital, not by choice, but by necessity, & once by choice when i was trying to quit. after a week or so, my lungs & chest felt the same as they did when i smoked. i'm sure they would've eventually felt different, but i gave up before i had a chance to see.

i've been vaping e-cigs for a little over a week. i've been completely cigarette free for almost 3 days. my lungs & chest already feel better. i breathe better. my husband is making the switch with me, & he's feeling it too. when we lay in bed at night, we don't wheeze anymore... after less than a week of 0 cigs. his snoring has vastly improved, & when i listen to him breathe when he's sound asleep, he doesn't have the little 'hitch' between breaths that he used to have.

this is after a week or so.

it's anecdotal evidence of i don't even know what because i'm not a scientist, but i'll take it, & i'm never going back. not ever.

we're proud of eachother. my Mom is proud of us. our kid is proud of us. (my other kid doesn't know yet) everyone we know is proud of us. i don't see anything wrong with that.

i will try to convert all the loved ones i have who smoke analogs to make the switch, because even if they're still bad for you, they are nowhere near as bad as tobacco smoke. i think the government should stay out of it. i mean, they already let them sell patches & gum at every store in town. if they banned e-cigs, they'd have to ban patches & gum too, i think.

so that's my 2 cents. take it or leave it, i don't really care. i'm just really happy right now. i've never been able to say that on the patch or the gum.

life is full of risks. you take a risk every time you do anything. i think switching from analogs to e-cigs is a risk worth taking.

tobacco cigarettes are legal & everybody knows what they do to you. alcohol is legal. a lot of bad things that kill you are legal.

we're all still gonna die some day. there's no way to avoid it. everybody dies frustrated and sad and that is beautiful. :)

The only thing i'm really worried about is if ecigs start popping up in high schools.... That will be the perfect scapegoat to ban something that has the potential to save countless lives... all because some kid is doing the healthier 2011 version of what kids have been doing in American Schools for the last 100 years...

I really don't see e-cigs becoming all that popular with the teenage crowd considering everything we put in on upkeep. Think about the initial cost, charging, filling, fiddling and equipment failures. How many teens have the patience needed for vaping?

I've replaced countless xbox headsets, controllers, and cables, not to mention cell phones, due to damage and loss over the years. No e-cig is going to make it a week in the hands of a typical teenager. And yeah, my youngest teen thought the LED on the end of my starter 808 was cool for about 5 minutes, then he was more interested in which games were coming out the next month and where he'd left his phone.

It's easy to purchase/bum/steal real cigarettes, vaping takes time, work and care. The FDA and alphabet associations are nuts if they think that e-cigs are going to be the next big thing in teen addiction. They would be better served spending their time looking into the 'bath salts' and 'potpourri' that are currently causing havoc in the teen community.

plus, they are mostly sold online, & most kids don't have credit/debit cards.
