Replacement heads are not inter-compatible between different brands. However if you use the proper heads of a clearomizer of the same brand and same model, you can use whatever resistance head the vendor offers.

For example, you can use the replacement heads of an iClear 16 in the iClear 16, but not the replacement heads of the iClear 30 in the iClear 16. Vice versa.

The replacement heads in the Kanger Evod and the Kanger Protanks are interchangeable, they both use the same replacement heads.

There is no way of knowing without doing some research what works with what.

To answer your main question, you can change the resistance of the replacement heads as long as the vendor stocks them.

I use top coil clearos, and the loud cracking/popping is because the coils are not wet enough. I normally lay my e-cig on it's side when I'm not using it, so I usually have no problems when the juice gets low. I change out flavors quite often, so I have around 10 clearos with juice in them lined up on a shelf. If I take one that has been sitting for a few days and don't tilt it to swirl the juice around before I first use it, I then get that noise.

The MT3's you ordered will work fine with your eGo battery. You may experience some leaking/gurgling, but I have a video on my ECF blog that can help to resolve those issues.

I just watched that video and wanted to say thank you, great tips! I still need to find a supplier for wicks and wire and I want to attempt a coil like the one you showed (first time I see a coil built with multiple wicks). I have only been using T3s for a few days, they are also the first and only tanks I ever used so far. I now have a few different ones that arrived today to start comparing results with different brands/models. lots of learning and lots of tweaking to be done.
