Hello everyone,

I'm a proud 4 day owner of my SS Zmax and I am loving it! I do have a few questions/concerns however... :p

I have noticed that every now and then I will end up with a misfire. Could this just be normal for most APV's or could the batteries I have been using be the culprit? I have been using IMR 18650 2000mah nipple tip batteries from Madvapes (where I also bought my Z). Would the flat top 18650's maybe sit flush with the connector's better and put a stop to the occasional misfire?

My next issue is probably more carto related than an actual Z issue, but I'll ask anyways. I have exclusively been using my ViVi Nova slim tanks with my Z at 2.4-2.8ohms and no matter what I can't go above 4.5w otherwise I get the burnt tastes. I have been using 50/50 juice and even 90/10 PG VG with the same results. Anyone else been having these issues using ViVi's on the Z? I have some DC cartos and tanks on the way at higher ohms and I am really hoping I'll be able to bump up my wattage considerably so I can get more of a warm vape.

Other than the occasional misfires for whatever reason, I have really been digging my Zmax so far. Thanks in advance for any help!

Hey mad, what you have to remember about the zmax is it is pushing more volts/watts than the display reads. I get the same thing on vivi tanks or any carto tank. I know there's a bunch of talk about how off the zmax is but for me I kind of adjust it until it tastes good. Hopefully that will add a little bit of info as to why its burning. I know its not a great answer but its what's happening with it. I love the zmax but unless I'm running the DID Atty I keep everything turned down low because its kind of off with the voltage adjustments.

I'm still getting misfires every so often (I'll press the button to take a hit and it won't fire until I repress it). I have searched the web for anyone else having this issue with the Zmax and so far nada. Also I have notice from time to time I'll press the button to take a hit and it goes right into the LED menu as if I had pressed it three times. It's not a big deal, but the misfiring has me a little concerned.

Any advice would be great. :)

My ss zmax does not misfire, had it almost 2 weeks. As matter of fact, my provaris misfire quite a bit due to "human error" - i don't always press with finger tip and the button needs to be hold down deep.
I suggest you contact the vendor for a possible replacement.

For warmer vape, you actually want to use lower resistance. Perhaps try some 2.2 – 2.4 and see if they work for you. Don’t go 1.8 or lower on the cartos since many reported the max’s overpower/burn them.
...rebuildables are fun. Once you get a handle, you can have them any way you want.

Hmm...interesting. I tend to use the side of my knuckle to hold the button down when I take a hit and not my finger tip. I think I'll switch over to using my finger tip for now and see if the issue is something as simple as that. That would be funny.

If it doesn't fix the misfire issue, I'll have no choice but to probably have to send it back for repair/replacement and that will suck. The Z has already spoiled me lol!

I have had my zmax for 2 weeks and use it at 6.5 watts with a vivi 2.5. Ohms are the 2.8 they sell in packs of 5, When I first got it like you I also had a burnt taste, I switched out the atty to one from the spare pack I ordered and that fixed it. there is talk on ECF about the atty head that comes with it being a fail.

Good Luck

I have not had any misfires with mine...yet

I haven't had any problems with misfires. I'm using AW IMR 2000 mah batteries though.
I haven't used the the Vivi Nova on the Zmax yet but I was using the Vivi Nova 2.4 ohms on the Provari and I noticed I did have to turn down the voltage to 3.7Volts. I'll usually run a single coil 2.4 ohm atty/carto at 4.3 ohms. So it maybe just the style of the Vivi Nova atomizer head?

Well, I think I may have to get a hold of CS and send it back after all. Not only am I getting misfires still, but every now and then for whatever reason the voltage will increase on it's own and will not save whenever I have to switch out batteries (the wattage will keep, but not the voltage and will reset to 3v). The other day I took a hit and about choked to death. I looked at the wattage and it had set to 15w on it's own after just taking a few hits at 4.5w right before. The next day it did it again, but this time it had switched to 7.5w on a hit.

I keep the LED set to OFF when I'm vaping in thinking that it will save some wear-n-tear and/or give better battery life, so I think I may turn it on and see if these problems still exist. Anyone else vape with the LED turned off, and if so, have you noticed any 'weirdness' with the Z at all? If I have to send my Z back, it couldn't happen at a worse time (leaving for vacation this coming Fri). I am loving the power of my Zmax, and to be without it for the next two weeks would be agony... :(

The only thing other than faulty Zmax would be if your not hitting the button straight on and if you happen to hit it multiple times without noticing it goes into menu mode and won't fire until you let up. That could explain the voltage changing as well. The Zmax only saves settings in wattage mode and not in voltage mode. The 3.0 v reset is normal when changing batteries when in voltage mode.

Ahh I see. It is good to know that the voltage resets on everyone's then and not just mine lol! :toast:

In the last four days, I have been pressing the button differently than before (I use my fingertips and not the side of my finger like I use to, and I also press it more firmly) and I have been getting considerably less misfires than I was but I do still get the menu to pop up from time to time. Either I have a flaky button OR a flaky finger it would seem, or both ! Good grief, you would think I would know how to work a damn button by now. So much for supposedly having a genius level IQ!

Dear God, you can make my finger flaky, but PLEASE leave my button alone!
