I thought I would post these to help anyone that may need it. If there is a dedicated place for this anyone is more than welcome to copy it.
For wicks: I learned that you don't often need to remake a wick. Every time I go to wrap a new coil I just burn off the old juice on my SS mesh wick and sometimes do a couple more burns. I've had the same wick for quite a while now.
For your coils on atomizers with a center post like a DID: I was having a hard time with the top part of my coil being the hottest which caused a lot of problems. I have found two solutions to this. The first can be used any time and in conjunction with the second tip. It is to push all wraps but the top very close together and down. So the top wrap that leads to the center post will we be close to even with where it meets the post and all the wraps below it will be far from that top wrap and all close together near the bottom. This little trick has been a godsend for me so if anyone needs pics I'd be happy to post when I wrap my next coil. The second tip I have for your coil wrapping is, instead of wrapping all the way up to between the top and middle nut, wrap the same amount of wraps but make them close together and only go as high as between the bottom and middle nut. Doing that you are still very able to use the first tip I gave and if you leave the wick at the same length it seems to wick better and not dry up as bad if you're a chain vaper like me.
It may be harder to do on a DID with the thinner nuts but I'm currently using it on the DID clone and it is working very well and the first tip I gave about how to avoid the top wrap being the hottest seems to work best when applied in this way.
I really hope this helps some of you. I'm still having trouble with certain things myself like wicking, discolored nasty juice, and my coil deteriorating in 24 hours to where I need to rewrap it because the wire is brittle so I'm still learning as I go
