My 64 year old father (I'm 39 in case that info is needed at all), who has been smoking since he was 17, and has in the past, quit successfully, but claimed it gets harder and harder (and I believe him)...he's been making fun of my vaping since I started, but today I announced my first successful month of being off ciggies and he said 'wow'.

A little while ago, he asked if he could try it, so I let him hit off my iStick 30w and Subtank, just for a laugh (0 nic at the time in it) (Circus Bear by Vape Wild, good stuff) and he was all...'wow'. I took the liberty of turning it down quite a bit so his first attempt at a vape wouldn't be a massive cloud. So I asked him what he thought, and now he is the proud owner of my two Vision Spinner II-Protank Mini II setups, and all of the 12mg juice I had left over. When I left, he was vaping away like a champ. I about had a breakdown at 'I think I could quit with these'...because I did...and I think he can too. I've been trying for a month to get him to accept vaping, much less take it upon himself to try and quit with it.

Tomorrow I'm rebuilding the 20-ish Protank heads I have lying around so he won't have to worry about those. It was a weird thing, showing him how to work the Ego-style batteries, how to charge them, how to fill a tank, explaining burnt hits and wicks and coils. He picked it all up really well, though.

I am so happy right now, my macho man exterior is starting to fade. Almost.

I'm 63, so don't be surprised if he's pretty good at picking this up. You did the right thing...just show him and let him take if from there. Yeah, I use ego sized and PT 2 minis often. You might even show him how to rebuild those. If you talk really slowly, I bet he could understand how it works.

Just funnin with ya...being an old guy, I can't help myself.

Wow, LiquidElectron! Good on you!

Wish my kids lived close enough to be of help; but no-o-o they had to be super independent......Sides didn't smoke. So, at 69 watched a lot of you tube videos and learned to vape and rebuild my ProTank coils with 30 Kanthal and cellu cotton. Could've gone to local B & M, but I'm sorta the "independent" type.

Awesome!!!!! Really glad to hear.:toast: I have that same (sort of) experience happening as we speak. My Dad, 64 as well (must be the age) said he will always smoke till the good Lord says it's his time. My parents always travel for work and spend a lot of time in hotels. He smokes about 3 packs a day and when I showed him the e-smoke and said to get Unflavored as it had no smell, he could vape inside without them knowing. Needless to say he did just that and now, a pack lasts him 3-4 days. I told him to smoke whenever he wants to (analogs), but now he says they are tasting like crap. So this summer, when they come back here as they are snowbirds, I will be giving him my older 2-Vision II spinners (gotta have backups) and a new Kangertech Areotank as a Vaping present.

Actually he has a severe essential tremor in his right hand, so I'll be doing his rebuilding, glad I have a lot of coil heads...

I might even have to do his tank refilling, which is also no problem. I mean, I cook and clean for him already, helping him quit smoking would be a pleasure.
Without a doubt, you're a good son. :thumb:

i live close to my mother so I set her up with a few Kayfuns and a MVP 2. I come over and keep everything cleaned and filled for her. She still smokes but nowhere near what she used to.

My father is a lost cause...he will not have any part of it and will complain of the smell! He is just a negative nelly anyway.
