I see a lot of people are having trouble with their atty's burning out. Is this a common issue across all platforms? I understand that many parts of any product can be disposable, like brake pads on a car, for example. But it seems like the atomizer, being the actual product, shouldn't be.

So, is it that these people are improperly using or maintaining their equipment or is it that the technology is just so the atty's will eventually ware out?

For my part I have had the same one for about two weeks and have had no problem. Every few days I take the cart off and puff on the atty to dry it out and then inhale and exhale through it (off of the battery) to get any fluid out. I also understand some people give them a light soaking in alcohol. Would these preventative measures make the atty last as long as the maintenance is continued or will I end up spending $8.00 + S/H on a new atty every week?

Atomizers are a very mysterious animal. Everyone has their procedures, and maintenance ideas. You have to factor in quality control, user error, treatment, etc. I can only suggest to read, & research.

I have long lasting attys. I either have a good plan, or I just may be lucky.
This is my personal opinion, and others with long lasting attys may disagree.

I keep my attys wet.
I use thick juice. (50% or more VG)
I don't clean them unless it's absolutely necessary.

This works for me, but don't take this as "carved in stone".

Cheers;

Every atty dies. Not every atty truly lives.

I've got 6 510 attys at the moment. I've had them for about 2 weeks. I alternate between them. While 5 are going strong, I think one is trying to die on me. When I get home I'll try and see if I can bring it back to life.

Attys are a crapshoot. One could last you a week, or it could last you for many months. Best bet is to just make sure you have plenty of extras. I know I'll be buying 510 attys like crazy for a little while. In case the FDA really bans us, attys are the only thing we can't make for ourselves (yet).

Angus....Like you mentioned here..It's not a bad idea to rotate several atomizers at one time...but I have come to find out that a higher voltage device(such as a prodigy)will actually self-clean the atomizer while in use.Keeping it wet at all times will also help prolong the life of the atomizer as well!:)The Wiz!

I've got The Chuck on order right now. I'll most likely get the 6v adapter for it, so I can use it like a defibrilator for my dying attys. :)

Do you mean keep it wet, even when not in use? (for example, I'm swapping between the few attys I have every couple days. Does the one I'm not using need to be wet? )

Thanks
Pav...If the atomizer is new and never been used it will be ok because of the primer fluid...I would try to keep an "In-use" atomizer somewhat wet at all times..just remember to drip a drop or two when you go to re-use it!!:)The Wiz!

I just got my 510 Monday and the first thing I noticed was the rotten, burnt taste from the atty. I have since swapped out the atty for another one, and the difference is nothing short of amazing. This time, the vapor is smooth and not at all harsh (same e-juice); different atty. I think I'll try washing out the first one with distilled water to see if it helps, but from the discussions, I have a feeling that I got a bad one to start. I've ordered lots more and hope most of them work good.

Alright, here is my secret for atomizers.

When you first get it, before you vape with it, take a piece of paper towel, roll it up tight, and stick it inside the atomizer tube. Then blow through the hole on the battery side of the atomizer for 5 to 10 seconds. Take out the paper towel and you should see that the end is wet with primer. Next, place a paper towel on the battery side of the atty and blow through the cart side. You should see a bit more primer come out. Repeat this process until no more primer comes out.

Then drip a few drops of juice on the atty, make sure the cart is full (but not overfilled), put it all together, and vape like the wind.

This should GREATLY reduce or even eliminate that nasty crappy primer taste. It works for me.
