I have 3 v1 Sticks and 4 v2 Sticks. v2 has no leakage I have not had the paint come off of any of them and I have had no switch problems at all, with the exception of 1 switch sticking 1 time on 1 stick. It has never repeated it self. It is the only device that both my wife and I use.

My v2 Stick had a bit of leakage if I flooded the atty, but none got into the battery compartment. Others have had issues with the switch going bad after a couple of months, but mine worked fine. I never had a problem with the paint.

That being said, Janty is going to be coming out with a new version of the Stick soon, possibly with adjustable voltage! That would be worth waiting for.

I have 1 v1 and 2 v2s. The only real change they made in the switch was to a stronger adhesive. It's possible you could still get a switch that will begin to peel, or get some liquid in there to muck it up. Leakage, in my opinion, is mostly a user problem. Overfill=leakage, same as any 801. The v2 appears to have better internal seals, but it's not hermetic. If you use the included holster, the silver paint will probably rub off. Cosmetic issues don't bother me personally. For the price, you can't find a better device with the features this thing has. If I were you, I'd buy one.

5 JS's 3 in use 2 in storage but have used/checked all of them - no sticky switches, no leaking, on one - mine which gets 'outside' use with the case, on the V's that are painted on the end piece there are 'dots' of paint gone from using the case I'm assuming - it's a "secure" fit on the case which I value over the paint job. Not that noticeable and no paint lost on the actual body.
