Since this is the "new members" forum, albeit that this is a more advanced topic than most beginners (not to be confused with "new member", necessarily!) might find high in importance, I'll mention this here too...

I bought my first AGA-T2 "genesis style" RBA before I ever got my first mech mod. At the time I was wrapping coils for use on my vamo. No matter how I wrapped it or at what voltage I tried it at I was never *completely* satisfied and basically wrote off the T2 as a well built, good looking tank that just didn't take flavor or vapor "over the top" for me, like I assumed it could. I tried different coils from 2.4 ohm (thought about trying it on my Spinner too! LOL), a 2.0 ohm, and finally a 1.5 ohm, and messed with different voltage settings. I drilled the air hole out from 1mm to 1/16 inches (1.56mm I think?), I tried 30, 32 and 34 gauge kanthal, 400 and 500 stainless steel mesh... and no matter what I tried I could never get it to be the king of my collection, like I really wanted it to be... it seemed like it always took too long for the coil to heat up, I'd huff and puff like crazy only to be rewarded with a rather mediocre cloud of vapor and the flavor was muted and always had a slight metallic taste to it I just couldn't shake off!

I get my first mechanical, stuff a new (fully charged) 18650 bat in it and screw on a dripper I was pretty sure was close to the Vamo limit, 1.2-1.3 ohms... WOW! *cough, cough... cough*

Whipped the old coil off my AGA-T2 and re-wrapped it 5/6 with 28 gauge kanthal A1 to come out at 1.1 ohms, according to my trusty Vamo (interesting side note: the vamo is perfectly happy to tell how low the resistance is of an atomizer, even if it's too low for it to fire it!) Now THAT is the kind of vapor I expected from the AGA-T2! So good flavor and vapor production I immediately ordered another T2 to go with the first one! I DID try one less wind (4/5 for 0.9 ohms) but I don't think the wick could quite keep up with a fresh battery. It would knock your head off with hot, throat hit until the battery lost some of it's edge, so I rewound it back to 5/6. Beautiful!

One other note that I'm sure most of the experienced mech owners are already aware of! I also found I needed to cut my nicotine level in *half* or the vape off this thing would literally make me dizzy. YMMV!

TL;DR: AGA-T2 wasn't great on Vamo at 1.5+ ohms. It's GREAT on a mech at 1.1 ohms! Cut nicotine level in half too.

Thank you for this wealth of insight. Like many, I am new and on the verge of hunting down my first mech mod. Soo much to take it, still not sure what I'll end up with...that Nemesis looks tempting....

i have a few questions about the Sigelei #8. i am a mech neophyte, so take it easy on me.

what's with the discrepancies in construction? some of them seem to have sectional tubes (even in 18350 mode), and some seem to be one piece.

also, i (pre)ordered one from vapor tek, and realized that apparently some are being shipped in aluminum? not desirable.

finally, i read through the sigeli mech thread and noticed people are having to modify these things for optimal performance. would i be better off just ordering "the natural" or similar for 20 extra dollars and being good to go out-of-the-box? how many mods does it take for these things to perform well, and how difficult are they to perform? is there a thread dedicated to the modifications somewhere?

thanks!

The #8 I bought from Hoosiervapes IS stainless steel with some chrome plated brass bits. One of the reasons they are known as "mods" is because you can modify them, either by fitting different batteries or doing more technical improvements such as custom engraving like qorax's (show off! LOL! :D ) or simply removing the chrome on the contact points with a light scuffing of fine sand paper to improve the contact (brass is better than chrome). Will a #8 work "right out of the box"? YES :) Can it be improved? That all depends on your subjective understanding of "improved". ;)

Read every page in that Sigelei thread... and the Natural thread... and the CCTS thread... etc.

I like my Sigelei well enough that I ordered a #19 too and I'm fairly certain that isn't the end of the story, at least not for me ;)

Hows the #8 voltage drop?

I had the #13 a while ago, beautiful piece of equipment, but such a huge voltage drop that it hits so pathetically and i just couldnt stand it, had to release it in the classies. Really a shame too - i like my mechs like i like my watches, solid and heavy, and that mech felt good in my hand.

OP, i use the CCTS or China GG. You may be able to find them on Hoosiervapes for $33. I got mine in a CoOp.

I also recommend the Drawtube or Gus Telescope clone with side button. A little light in the hand for my taste but hits extremely well.

On my #8 the top connector is a flat screw head upside down, as you describe, but it's threaded into a hard plastic tube which itself is threaded into the head. This should allow pin height adjustment or even possibly replacement with a similar brass screw (I'm going on a safari into my local hardware store later today!) The bottom brass cup that holds the spring also screws into the bottom so it should be replaceable as well.
Hehehheheh..thanks for the confirmation oktyabr..now need to source AW batteries to further enhance the firing =P and also locate for them brass screw heads..
