I went to mechs because there were no high powered regulated mods a year ago that were affordable. I still use them, but my ipv4 is my ADV now.

I wanted a mech but without the dripping so I landed in Reoville, then decided to stay it's a nice town. :p

Peace of mind.
Solid, durable performance.
Longevity.
Total control and freedom.

Mechs can last forever.
ALL chips eventually fail.

Not everyone vapes at a desk.

And for my recommendation:

My " got to" mechanical.
King knurled clone.
$15-20 online.
Solid and thick, adjustable copper contact, adjustable for battery rattle, recessed button, reverse lock ring.
Built like a padlock and hits like a street corner pimp.

Comes in Brass, Copper, and Stainless Steel.
Excellent first mechanical mod.

Hey, I notice you recommend the King more than once on various threads and it looks more appealing to me every time. I come from using the infinite's Stingray X and I prefer to use it the 510 floating pin top cap. I don't have any experience with the two stage positive 510, but it shouldn't be a problem I assume.

The first thing I notice is that it looks very quite beefy, being a 23mm device it should. Do you have any other variants of the King that you can give feedback on?

I've been looking at the V2 in stainless from Infinite without the knurling.

I bought one of those for a friend and I've used a brass version.
They are basically the same as the knurled design wise.
Very nice mod.
Infinite brand is pretty good stuff.

HCigar offers one like that too that's also very good.

I think asking for a recommendation is a fine idea. There are literally thousands to choose from. It gets overwelming buying your first.

Question 1: OP, what kind of build are you planning to put in that Mutation? Are you looking to fog out the house?

i was looking to put claptons in there.
i know abit about battery safety and not to go stupidly low on the builds, Also it wouldnt be leaving the house i just wanted one for when i was on the pc working.

Thank you everyone for the responds really wasnt expecting this many people to comment so thank you :D

In my experience, claptons don't work so well in a mech. The whole reason I bought my iPV4 was because my mechs wouldn't fire the pair of claptons I built. They need at LEAST 80W to light up and a mech will only put out about 85W for the first few puffs and less and less with each puff thereafter. Exotic builds have a lot of metal in them and really need lots of power to heat up. That's why you see so many 100w+ mods out there these days.

I have a steel king;
yep it's beefy.

The hex nuts on topcap and lockring make it more practical.
Compatible parts with my chiyou's and astro's; the astro comes with floating pin plus it's telescopic.

of the three, i favor the astro, and I have spare chiyou kick tubes and topcaps from fastech.

It is good that you are looking for advice on mechs my first mod was a mech that was recomened by roxynoodle and she did not steer me wrong at all I love the mid she recommended , I afterwards did eventually get my smpl mods after about 6 other mechs and I love them but I would not get a smpl until you fully understand what you are doing there is many things that can go wrong with a mech if you are not very careful

I also agree with what was posted above don't get anything with a floating top pin always look for adjustable solid copper contacts even most clones come with them now that being said look for genuine 20a + batteries Sony vct4s can be safely used as 30a batteries and Samsung 25rs are great 20a batts learn very well how to make your coils and test them very well before firing them on a mech

I love my mechs for their durability and there the only thing I will bring on a construction site while I work , taken care of they will last forever and always try to start with something with a locking ring sorry for the long rant I hope you enjoy my your ventures into mech mods and feel free to ask if you have a specific question or feel free to pm me if you would like!

So im looking for a mech, ill be running a mutation x v4 with it, but iv never had a mech before so im a newbie with them anyone got any recommendations ill consider most prices but ild like it to be reasonably price :p

thanks

I'd honestly take a look at the FUhattan mod.. It's a competition cylinder mech mod that uses one 18650 battery and this thing kicks harder than almost any mech mod I've seen. Kicks way harder than my 109$ tugboat mech mod that I had bought and I've compared it to a lot of the guys at the vape shops 150$ mech mods and it is on par with them by far. Made out of all copper. Very strong magnets. Check it out man. Heres a pic of mine with a fused clapton build on it.

I've been on mech bottom feeders for awhile now and I think the REO is an excellent suggestion.... unless you want to spend far more on one of the boutique bf mods out there at the moment.
From what I remember from my tube mech period, the Doomsday mod from intergalactic industries was my favorite. Simple, durable and solid. It's a great authentic with a reasonable price tag. At least, it was. They may still be around.

Im so lost when people say mechs cant run exotic builds.
I have a 2x26650 parallel box. I put a pair of 26/32 KA1 claptons on it @ .24 ohms. 6 wraps @ 1/4" ID. It takes almost 3 full seconds to start making a cloud. You are right about N80 though. I use it in all my other drippers. I haven't tried any exotic builds with it though.
