Hi everyone! I got my first e-cig, a 510, in the mail on Memorial Day weekend. I haven't wanted a regular cigarette since. I smoked on and off, mostly on, for almost 20 years, most of it on the sly in my car while I was running errands or on work breaks. Thankfully, I looked into PVs again after wanting a way satisfy the habit without that awful smell hanging around.

I was pleasantly surprised at how reasonably priced the starter kits were, and I figured it's now or never. I was starting to experience some shortness of breath, and sometimes smoking would make my chest hurt if it was really hot outside.

After a lot of studying (including lurking on this forum), I settled on a kit, and haven't looked back. The second or third day I lit up one of my analogs, and it tasted more like crap than ever, and I threw them away. I've even happily vaped some no-nic liquid, and have determined a lot of my cigarette addiction was the hand-to-mouth part of it, and having something to do with my hands while I was fretting about something. The past couple of years have been rough on me economically, and spending thirty dollars a week on something I didn't like that much was driving me nuts. e-liquid tastes SO much better, and there's a lot I haven't tried yet.

So, here I am, feeling a lot better

MsMellow - great job.

Shame to hear about your personal economy. Tough times for some right now and i look forward to better times for all. It will certainly help you money wise to not be smoking (if you can resist the lure of all the other e cig bits and pieces there are to buy).

Yeah - isn't it funny how truly awful cigarettes taste once you've gone a few days vaping only ?

Pleased for you fella. I can sense that you're gonna get clear.

No, i understand. I guess I should say I wasn't much of a public smoker. I started smoking in my late teens, when I should have known better. Went to college, came out with a bad habit. I always smelled it even after I let myself "air out" by taking a walk outside or something. It sticks in your hair and such, you know? I was weird that I kept my sense of smell this whole time. Sense of taste was deadened a bit, but not by much. When I got my e liquid with my starter kit, I thought it I was worse off, it all tasted vaguely sweet, but not much flavor.

Then I ordered some stuff from another supplier, and I found out it was just the liquid. I'm really liking VaporBomb's Zen Garden right now. I ordered a large bottle of it tonight, along with some other stuff.

@Del Boy - Thank you! I am trying to keep away from buying too much gear right now. It hasn't been a month yet, and I'm kinda wanting an ego or something like that. I thought it might be too big for me, but now I'm thinking, "women smoke cigars too...it might not be bad." The fact that I'm doing okay with this so far, and I seem okay with the lower strength juices, is giving me confidence that my will power isn't completely shot.

The main money sink I can see with myself right now is liquid. So much of it sounds really good, and I want to try it all!

@fforest - I would get a pack of Djarums every once in a while. I liked how they smelled, but they made me pretty raspy afterwards. I got to pick a free sample with my kit and I picked clove. It kind of brought back memories of late night bull sessions after work when I worked the night shift. I ordered a honey flavor tonight to go with it. I thought it might be a good combo.

MsMellow - sorry for calling you "fella". I thought..........anyway.

I wouldn't worry about the size of your e cig (women smoke cigars too) because you're not actually smoking.

When i started vaping (9 weeks ago tomoz) i was adamant that i would only use a cigarette look-a-likey. The thought of using anything else was insane. Yet 10 days in to my quit i needed to up the stakes. Fiddling and faffing about with batteries that weren't lasting very long and carts that were empty after a few good pulls (i was vaping hard through cravings) was all driving me nuts. So i bought a bigger battery model (900mah Ego copy). And boy o boy did the whole ordeal become a lot lot easier. I could relax right into my quit. Batteries now last me 36 hours or more. The carts still need re-filling but last me a lot longer.
All in all the upgrade has made everything soooooo much simpler and less fraught and less stressful.
Keep it up and keep posting.

Del Boy - You're fine.

I did notice that the more I looked at videos of people using different models, the smaller they seemed. A few weeks ago an ego or anything like it seemed huge. The battery life is the thing. Not having to charge every night would be nice. But then again, I just got my first pack of cartomizers last week. I'm forcing the baby steps before I spend the money I'm saving!

Damn these hobbies with gear! :p

blue8091 - Yeah, I never saw this happening again. I've quit in the past pretty easily when my nerves weren't so bad. I quit to try to get an ex boyfriend to quit years ago. He was yelling and eating junk food, and I just sat there and watched him. I didn't smoke as much then. I was getting to half a pack, sometimes a whole pack a day the past four or five months. That freaked me out, and I knew I had to do something. I figured the only way I would quit is from simply not being able to afford it anymore, or being stuck in the middle of a desert or something along those lines.

WyattDerp - Thank you for the welcome. It's good to breathe again. Yay, Megaman! What's wrong with his eyes? lol

I know exactly what you mean. I have a "steep box" for my juices (letting them sit for a week or so can make the flavor stronger). I thought the box would be plenty big enough. NOT! :D

Everyone's so nice here. It makes me really happy. I hope whatever I put up here might give someone what they need to quit smoking. I felt the change so quickly too.

A few weeks ago if I took up a flight of steps too quickly, it would take me a while to recover and get my breathing back to normal. I recover much quicker now (haven't timed it, but maybe a minute?), and no gasping for air or serious heart pounding. I'm glad I'm nipping this in the bud before I hurt myself even more. Even though the weather is warmer now, it's easier to bear because I can breathe better. Without that smoke doing its harm to my body, I feel damn near normal!

RIGHT! I got this little wooden box last Christmas that I wasn't sure what to do with, and now it holds all my gear. It's getting pretty crowded. More so when I find some flavors I really like and start getting the big bottles.
