I gave up smoking cigarettes (3PAD) just over 4 years ago - went cold-turkey. But I just couldn't cope, so tried the patches - no real success. From there I went on nicotine gum. That was fairly successful, but I caught sight of me chomping on the gum on a home movie, and decided how uncouth it looked, so gave that up. Then I tried a passive inhaler that looked like a fat cigarette with a replaceable nicotine cartridge in it. Trouble was, I chewed the end, which began moving my front teeth, so I had to give that up. From there I experimented with sucking lozenges which I stayed with until 3 months ago. Problem was, that they upset my digestion system in the end (I won't go into details), and the cost was getting ridiculous - they are very expensive in the UK, and I was spending about £40/week on them.
Then, out of the blue, I got an email from ClearSmoke offering a free trial of an e-cigarette Starter Kit (I didn't know such things existed). I had 15 days to try the product or return it. I ran just over the 15 days (didn't allow for shipping time) and was charged £60 (didn't read the small print). I kicked myself for being so gullible, but found the product to have some merit, so ordered more cartomisers. After a month I became more critical and decided there must be better products out there - the battery life was very poor, the cartomisers didn't really taste that good or last very long, and the cost was looking to be far higher than was promised.
I looked for an alternative, and after reading a few reviews (hadn't found this forum yet) I purchased a system from SmokeRelief. This promised better battery life, cheaper cartomisers, and included a portable charger box which made battery charging a lot easier when away from home. The taste was a lot better, and the cartomisers a lot cheaper. I continued with this for a while, but was becoming increasingly worried by people thinking this was a real cigarette. Then someone told me about the tank systems, which looked different to cigarettes.
I trawled around the web a bit, looking into this and settled on the Vapouriz CE4 (eGo) Tank system. I have been using this for over two weeks now, and am delighted with how it is working out. The battery lasts for well over a day, the taste is excellent with a great 'hit' on a long-draw, and it looks as though a 30ml bottle of e-liquid should last about a month (very economical). The kit also includes a slim leather sheath on a lanyard, which is great for use round my neck on a long car journey.
I think I have found an excellent solution to my tobacco-withdrawl problem, even though I stumbled a bit on the way.
