One Happy Vaper - at last!

I gave up smoking cigarettes (3PAD) just over 4 years ago - went cold-turkey. But I just couldn't cope, so tried the patches - no real success. From there I went on nicotine gum. That was fairly successful, but I caught sight of me chomping on the gum on a home movie, and decided how uncouth it looked, so gave that up. Then I tried a passive inhaler that looked like a fat cigarette with a replaceable nicotine cartridge in it. Trouble was, I chewed the end, which began moving my front teeth, so I had to give that up. From there I experimented with sucking lozenges which I stayed with until 3 months ago. Problem was, that they upset my digestion system in the end (I won't go into details), and the cost was getting ridiculous - they are very expensive in the UK, and I was spending about £40/week on them.

Then, out of the blue, I got an email from ClearSmoke offering a free trial of an e-cigarette Starter Kit (I didn't know such things existed). I had 15 days to try the product or return it. I ran just over the 15 days (didn't allow for shipping time) and was charged £60 (didn't read the small print). I kicked myself for being so gullible, but found the product to have some merit, so ordered more cartomisers. After a month I became more critical and decided there must be better products out there - the battery life was very poor, the cartomisers didn't really taste that good or last very long, and the cost was looking to be far higher than was promised.

I looked for an alternative, and after reading a few reviews (hadn't found this forum yet) I purchased a system from SmokeRelief. This promised better battery life, cheaper cartomisers, and included a portable charger box which made battery charging a lot easier when away from home. The taste was a lot better, and the cartomisers a lot cheaper. I continued with this for a while, but was becoming increasingly worried by people thinking this was a real cigarette. Then someone told me about the tank systems, which looked different to cigarettes.

I trawled around the web a bit, looking into this and settled on the Vapouriz CE4 (eGo) Tank system. I have been using this for over two weeks now, and am delighted with how it is working out. The battery lasts for well over a day, the taste is excellent with a great 'hit' on a long-draw, and it looks as though a 30ml bottle of e-liquid should last about a month (very economical). The kit also includes a slim leather sheath on a lanyard, which is great for use round my neck on a long car journey.

I think I have found an excellent solution to my tobacco-withdrawl problem, even though I stumbled a bit on the way.

Thanks for your reply on previous post.
I here a lot off people saying ego is the best, I invested in sky cig only because it was the first one I'd tried and didn't really shop around. my battery needs charging all the time with only 1 each for me & mrs it's a pain, filling the many cartridges that have run out is nice & straight forward but not sure how long each one can be refilled, can I use the refill cartridge system (510s I believe) on a better battery ie the ego that you mentioned, don't want spend a bunch of cash on a whole new set up kit.

Welcome Bigpozz -
Yes- you can put 510s on ego batteries- but the better long term choice is to go with a complete ego system.
I bought the eGo-c starter kit that has 2 complete units, batteries and charger.
The reason I recommend it is that it is easy to charge, easy to fill and the cartrages hold a lot- like two hours of chain vapping, all day normal. Lastly, they look like a big pen- easy to carry Day to Day, out and about.

And Welcome to VitalSparks too- your doing Great !

Welcome, I have used eGos, off and on, for 2 years. This time for good.

Hvac999- what are you doing up sooooo early-
I had to DJ a very late holiday party- ( I know it's the end of January)- so I get to sleep in, till 8:30am on the east coast,
But you are in Denver ! ( and its Sunday)

Something I forgot to mention about the tank systems is that you have greater control over how you vape, because of the flexibility of using the power button. For example, it is possible to create a meaningful 'draw' without creating any obviously visible 'smoke'. It takes a little practice (all in a day), but it means you can use it in pubs and restaurants without drawing attention to yourself - great for that relaxing puff after a meal! Then, at other times when you want a draw that 'blows your socks off', you can do that.

Another thing worth mentioning is that the air you draw in does not go anywhere near the battery. With the cartomiser (cigarette look-alike systems) air is drawn from the tip, through the battery compartment. What if the battery breaks down, or decides to 'vent' itself? Could you be inhaling dangerous fumes? - just a thought...

Its not a given but I suspect in time we will be seeing a post from you when you've discovered the joys of VV and or VW battery mods. Its the normal progression of things.
I would suspect the other end would pop off if the batteries were to vent. It will create a massive amount of heat very quickly unless you have no self preservation instincts what so ever you will throw it as far away from your self as possible pretty much instantly. Ive never herd of any one breathing in toxic gasses from a venting battery.

I wonder if we would know if venting had even happened. I'm not talking about catastrophic failure - just a natural release of gasses. After all, these batteries are worked very hard.

The batteries are contained they do not give off gas unless there they are going thermal. The gas is formed when battery its self burning. Its in excess of 1000 degrees. Here is a great battery info link. Basic to Advanced Battery Information from Battery University
