Hallo,
I'm from Surabaya and had long heard of e-cig but have never tried it. I was a heavy smoker 16 bars every day and today I would like to know more about the e-cig. With prices and health considerations.
price:
clove cigarette tobacco + $ 1.2 / day
e-cig: .......?
health:
cigarette tobacco: .....?
e-cig: .....?
if I spend 16 rods = $ 1.2 / day,
how much do I need for .... $ / day e-cig
Thanks!

Hi Irmaz,

In my opinion, the cost of gudang garam itself in Indon could actually be cheaper than importing juices from US/UK... at least compared to cigarette costs in neighbouring countries, especially Aussie or Sing (i used to buy them in bulk and puff like there's no tomorrow whenever i go over to Indon).

The health benefit of ecig over analogs (normal cigs), however, seems to outweigh any price difference. Currently there's no conclusive or substantial proof of ecig being harmful to health (despite claims by various governments/lobbyists), so it seems that vaping would be a much healthier alternative. I would suggest you take your time to read some of the more informative posts in the forum instead of taking my word for it.

To calculate the exact cost, you may have to seek out various suppliers to compare the price (including shipping if you cannot find a brick/mortar shop near you). Probably start with something simple and available and work from there?

I would say everyone is different so it would be tough to say if you can or not. I smoked a pack of cigarettes a day for the last 15 years (but I have been smoking for 22 years, started when I was 16). Which here in the USA is 20 cigarettes. I started vaping juice at 24mg and completely stopped smoking cigarettes in a day and only vaped. The cost of vaping is almost whatever you want it to be. You can get a simple starter kit for around $40 online. The juice can be anywhere from $5 - $20 per bottle. A 10ml bottle lasts me a bit over a week. To say vaping will be cheaper, like I had hoped, was just a dream. I love it and now I can't stop buying different flavors, batteries, tanks, etc. Now that I DIY the juice it has gotten even worse. I'm buying new flavors all the time. Sure its been expensive but I truly feel so much healthier. In just 1 week I could already feel that I was breathing better. The wheezing I experienced at night was completely gone!!! Plus the fact that my car, house and clothing no longer stink is a huge plus. I can't even stand the smell of a cigarette anymore. I honestly can't believe that is what other people were smelling when I walked by. It disgusts me. I think vaping has been a lifesaver for me and I really hope the government here doesn't screw us over!!

Not sure what currency your $ 1.2 / day is based upon, but if it's based on US$ you are smoking very cheaply compared to what it costs in the states. One pack of twenty cigarettes (rods?) in Chicago, for example, can cost from ten to twelve dollars, so that's ten times what you're spending if you're talking about US currency. So chances are in your unique case you aren't going to be saving money vaping (or maybe you will, not sure how your currency translates), but think of the health implications over dollars saved and I think you'll find it worth it.

It's approximately how much the analogs there cost based in USD. Which is why it may be so much cheaper than importing premium juices from UK/US, taking into account of the many carriers not taking liquid shipments...

Then again, health is priceless, no?

Greetings irmaz and welcome to the forum.

The cost is definitely a lot less for e-cigs; I was a pack-a-day smoker (= 20 tobacco cigarettes per day), spending close to US$10 daily. My e-cigs cost me between US$1 and US$2 per day, which covers e-liquid and replacement atomizers (of course you have to take into account the start up cost for your E-Cig kit).

Since quitting tobacco about 6 weeks ago, I've been feeling much better -- the raunchiness and tightness in my chest is gone. It's become much easier to exercise longer and more often, so I feel healthier for sure. Maybe someone else with medical or scientific knowledge can add some comments about e-cigs and better health.

One other thing, I enjoy vaping as much as I enjoyed smoking tobacco -- maybe I enjoy vaping more, because I know it's not killing my health the way cigarettes were.

Regards
Glenn
