Firstly, hello. I've been vaping since early 2009 but not really bothered with the whole forum thing, although I have browsed many a time. I've converted a whole load of people at work (I was the first to start vaping, there's now 20+ people). My main pv is an Ego-C because, well, I've found no need to switch from it. Yet.

So, on to the strange experience. Recently, one of my Ego-C batteries (bought from Totally Wicked, in Brushed Steel, in case that matters), decided it would no longer work. Fine I thought, and played with the centre pin. Yes I know, it's frowned upon. When this didn't work I broke out my multimeter (I'm no electrician but I've found use for it before), expecting the battery to be dead. Strangely though, it is measuring 3.8v. So, has anyone come across this before? I've checked with different atomisers, from different bits of kit. They all work with another good battery, and none work with this one. I've also made sure that the centre pin is connecting with them all (I pull it out slightly, and after trying it, it's back where it was). When plugging it in to the charger, the light on the battery flashes, but the light on the charger stays green. It's almost as if it doesn't want to let me vape. I'm hoping there's something that someone knows, because I'm all out of ideas.

Ta.

Matt.

That is kind of a stumper makes no since you get a reading but no performance. I think you are correct in looking at the center post. Not making contact is the only thing I could see to cause you this trouble.

I have a off topic question for you. How may ego style batteries have you went threw since 09?

Welcome to our family , here at ECF . But maybe the battery is just worn out . They only last about a year . I had some that would show fully charged , but would not work at all , under load , of any kind . Toss it and buy a new one , or maybe time to upgrade to a big battery type PV , E-power , or even an Ego PV , that uses big batteries . Good luck .

Ya, it's either dirty (I assume that you tried cleaning it but...you never know), or it just can't put out any current despite being at 3.8V. Also, I'm not sure of what the exact configuration of your model is, but if its in any way regulated or protected, ther could be an issue with the circuitry.
Look on the bright side, it's an excuse to upgrade.

@buzzzlove yes, I had the same thought, getting a reading, but no firing of the atty made absolutely no sense to me. As for how many batteries, a quick check of my excel chart (yes, I have an excel chart for everything) shows me I bought my first tank kit on 30th Jan 2011, (took me a while to take the plunge to a tank style), that came with 2 batteries. I (foolishly) bought 2 cheap ones March 2012 (one of which broke within a week and got replaced, the second went 2 weeks later, I replaced that too!). That lead me to buying 2 more on 8th August 2012, and another one on 10th June 2012 when the original 2 and the final cheap one gave in fully. So until last week, I had three working ones. The one that has decided to stop was from August this year.

@Canospam yes I tried cleaning it with everything from tissue, to a baby-wipe, to ethyl cleaning fluid and a cotton bud... It's got me stumped. My setup is a standard Ego-C setup, type A (the thinner one) standard resistance attys. In fact, everything at the moment is from Totally Wicked (thanks to their yo-yo :) )

Funnily enough the connector that sits in the tank cone body, between the atty and the battery recently stopped working. I bought a new one, and the new connector works in the old body, but the old connector doesn't connect at all, it is old though, all worn down to the (copper?) inside. I'll look at a new battery. Have been thinking about upgrading recently, not sure what to upgrade to yet though as I like the Ego setup.
