Ok ..I have tried the disposable type that you find in the garages here when you go for petrol.. they were fine, but I wonder what the real deal is like in comparison.... I only tried them for a short while, and I was pi%%%ed off at the high price for a tiny ammount of vapour

So..my chance to ask a dumb question... LOL

Keith

In comparison? Awesome. :)

There can be some adjusting and settling in but once you get oriented and find what works for you, it can be pretty great. I'm over here blowing some pretty decent clouds o' vapor. Cherry now, had enough blueberry for today. Which is one of the attractions to vaping that keeps me away from cigs. I have about a dozen cartomizers set up since I'm trying out some liquids and will switch around flavors through the day. Figure out which ones I want to order big bottles of.

Cigarettes seem so... limited now. I can't just pick another flavor and put it on the battery.

By the way, if you like vapor (I do), you'll lean more toward the VG side of the base liquid thing. The liquid that the flavoring and nicotine are in that produces the vapor comes in two kinds: VG and PG. You can get liquids that are 100% one or the other or a mix of the two. I use either 100% VG or a 50/50 mix of PG/VG.

Folks who like "throat hit" and stronger flavor over vapor production tend to lean toward more PG. I find the more PG in a liquid, the more throat irritation. I never liked "throat hit" that much even when smoking. I lean toward a more... smooth? kind of thing.

But you have to sample some different liquids to find what you like. It's a definite matter of personal taste. But I do like my vapor so I tend to prefer more VG in my liquids than PG.

I'm stunned at how well it's worked for me. I just bought a disposable just to try this "e-cig" thing out when I was picking up my regular carton of cigs. Just fiddled around with it, ended up liking the taste. It was sometime around 8:30 or so in the evening I realized I'd gone without smoking since I'd got home from the store. Went to check the receipt and I'd bought the disposable around 11:30 in the morning.

I forgot to light up for nine hours.

I've never forgotten that. It was so weird. I'm a... no, I was a heavy smoker. I did not go nine hours without a cig. Not unless I was asleep!

With that in mind, when I got to doing the whole vaping thing, I decided to concentrate on finding flavors and enjoying vaping. Not thinking about it as "quitting smoking" (which thought could literally cause a panic attack... I'm serious, my doc said something about me needing to quit and it was like he'd threatened my life, I wanted to run :) ).

The more I came to enjoy vaping, the less I cared about smoking. Didn't actually stop smoking completely until about the last week. So it took over a month but I kept slowing down and slowing down until, one day, I lit my one cig for the day and hated it. It tasted awful, made me cough, gave me a headache. Oof! I think about two days later, I tried again, same results. It was just an awful experience.

Ran for the Twist and some Rainer (cherry flavor I've come to like a great deal) to get the bad taste outta my mouth. :)

I like the idea of a more "positive" reinforcement. That is, vaping is better. So I want to do that. Not smoke. That really seems to be working for me.

And, heh, yeah, blueberries. I'm vaping "Blueberry Candy" as I type. Yum. :)

Now you've got me seriously interseted..thanks for taking the time to post that... You are a gentleman...

Now I just need to take the plunge and find the right set up for me

Many thanks

You're quite welcome. And, also, welcome. :)

Keep the eGo in mind. It's a battery style and there are any number of variations. But I went through two other kits before listening to folks around here and getting an eGo Twist. Now I wish I'd started with an eGo. Lots of other good set ups also and you'll get tons of advice here but I'd say the eGo is one of the good ones to put on the "short list".

I've been rolling my own for 20 years, and I started vaping less than 2 weeks ago. I assumed I would want to find a tobacco flavor just like my rollies, and I've already discovered that I like non-tobacco better (at the moment I am looooooving a simple peppermint). I am waiting on a sampler of juices and I can't wait to explore more flavors.

You are getting all kinds of helpful advice on this thread but I just wanted to pop in with my 2 cents on flavors as a fellow RYO person.

Also, I am still smoking, but just 2 cigarettes a day. I have given myself no ultimatums on that, and have barely made an effort (in terms of trying to tap into willpower). But the vaping is so satisfying that I rarely even think of the rollies. I am amazed.

Good luck!!
