What is shown in that picture is something akin to a CE2 'tank'. There is no cartomizer in that tank.
You can buy cartomizers to go on it though, no problem. And there are cartomizer tanks. It just depends on your preference. You can buy plain refillable cartomizers, you can buy cartomizer tanks, you can buy CE2 tanks. Several options available.

A tank holds more juice than a plain cartomizer.

A cartomizer is a small stainless tube that foam and a heating element inside. A cartomizer tank you poke a couple of holes towards the connection end of the carto. Put the catro in the tank fill it with juice now you have allot more vaping time with out refilling.
The tank in the picture has wicks at the top it has a heating element. The wick system is a love it or leave it system Me I don't like them.
I would suggest you go to youtube and research Lava Tubes before you buy anything. The Ego you will be throwing away in a few months the Lava Tube uses rechargeable batteries.
Dont forget to look for coupon codes before you buy. Good luck

Greetings. I got this exact kit from VC yesterday and I have been loving it. So far the Excalibur has been fine - no leaks, only issue has been that the first hit has usually tasted burnt, so I have to tip it a lot. I was posting on here yesterday because apparently I did not prime it and was having issues, but it is fine now. I also got some low resistance 510 cartomizers (they are easy to use and if you don't get a dud, they are solid) and have been using them as well. I threw in a CE2 but have not tried it yet.
I researched the Twist a lot before ordering and the overwhelming majority thought that it was a great first upgrade. As I learn more about what is out there I agree. It is about the same price as my first "mini" kit, has variable voltage, and by most accounts lasts a long time. Some call it a "disposable", but if it lasts me a year that is fine for $56.

Doesn't say Joyetech anywhere on the page... just throwing that out there.

Atomizer - the thing that heats it up and makes vapor - you can drip liquid directly on it.
Cartomizer - an atomizer with fabric around it. The fabric absorbs liquid and feeds it to the atomizer. Just a way to keep liquid in it.
Tank - Thing that holds liquid. Has a cartomizer in it, only a hole in the side that lets juice flow from the tank to the cart.
CE Tank - Liquid travels up a wick to the atomizer.
