Welcome to the party CosNy1 :)

I was a PAD menthol smoker too (last brand was Camel Crush Blues). I think maybe I was pretty lucky - I haven't had withdrawals per se, but every once in a while the thought hits me about lighting one up. (Just over 8-months smoke-free now). Good thing is I have enough gear nearby that I don't act on the urge. One of my work buddies still smokes (non-menthol) and though I'm curious to know what a smoke would be like now, I don't think I'm going to stoop to a non-menthol :D

Everyone is different - some NEVER get cravings, some have them quite frequently. I'm fortunate that I "get away with vaping at work." Otherwise, I may not have easily avoided lighting one up. If the urge strikes you, no one's going to tell you no (at least I won't - it's not my place) - you're your own person and get to make your own choices. I just hope that you can grab a vape instead :)

You didn't say how long you were able to make it during your previous attempts, but it sounds like you've gotten farther this time. Hang in there - hopefully things will get better for you.

The flu bit could have been what's known as 'quitters flu'. It's basically where your system is getting ride of all the poisons and pollutants that are in analogs besides nicotine.

I'm just going through my second week of it. Last week I thought I was dying. Upper respiratory tract felt like there was a lit cigarette stuck in it, it was on fire. And my lungs front and back were sooooooooo painful. I ached all over and felt feverish and listless. I was coughing so bad I thought I would rupture something.

Went to see my GP and told her I gave up smoking two weeks ago (as it was then) and she said "Oh you've got yourself a case of quitters flu". She did give me some anti-biotics for my chest but when I saw her practice nurse on Thursday she said it would probably get worse before it got better.

Fortunately I am feeling much better now, still got a cough and low energy but otherwise on the mend.

Yet even after all that earlier this evening I had a bad craving for a stinky stick. So I've been chain vaping most of the night. First real craving since I stopped and it's gone again now. Thank goodness for ECF kept me busy between vapes lol.

In two days it will be 1 year for me (Nov. 18th). In that time I have taken 3 tokes of my girlfriends real cig. No way would I go back as it tasted nasty and vaping fills my needs and taste so much better. The toke never made me want to start again. Been lucky that way I guess. Harder for lots of folks. I smoked 3 packs a day for 40 years and not once in the past year have I ever thought of going back to that. I hope all can get to that place in their life. Vape on and vape only!!:vapor:

I haven't smoked a cig in about 6 weeks, since I started vaping. Every now and then I'll get a strong urge to light up, but it passes within 30 seconds of so.

I'm still afraid to leave the house without a backup vape just in case something happens to my main setup!

DITTO THAT!! I always leave the house with 4 different flavors and batteries. Never know, might get stuck somewhere and I want to be prepared lol.

Stay strong my friend. I smoked for nearly 30 years, and have now been vaping full-time for 14 months. Believe me when I tell you, it gets easier. I'm not a doctor, but I'm certain that it takes you body a while to deal with the absence of carbon monoxide, and the hundreds and hundreds of other poisons that you inhaling in cigarette smoke. Whatever you do, keep on vaping. You didn't mention the nic level of your juice; maybe you need something a little stronger; just a thought. I'm Vapin' in So Cal (CASAA Member)

Ditto. Me too I probably go way over the top but I'd rather be safe than sorry lol.

Then I have no excuse whatsoever for buying any stinky sticks.

Happy vaping. :)

Congratulations on your success so far. I have been smoke free for going on 3 years now. I can speak for myself saying that there are times I still think about a cig. That first year was the hardest. But now I have reached the point that the smell of a cig turns my stomach. Hang in there. It will get better. And welcome to ECF.
