Hi Stage and welcome to the forum.

Although there are a lot of companies out there selling E-cigs and supplies you really need to read the fine print as to what you are buying. There are some copycat companies out there selling knock offs of the more popular styles. A company might be claiming to sell and original "Joye" but when you receive it and look on the battery the familiar initials might not be there.

So stay alert and wary of these because they might be cheap knock offs that will fall apart and or provide you with a bad vaping experience.

Ask as many questions as you feel you need to as well - it CAN be confusing and we are here to hopefully lessen that confusion (just dont ask 'which juice is best' or you'll be back to information overlaod in 0 seconds flat )
Welcome to ECF :)

Thank you for the welcome :) I see mentioned quite often here the "510", is that a very specific model sold by a single vendor or a common style that several vendors sell?

I am at a strange vaping crossroads right now. A few weeks ago I had complete and utter Joye 510 failure; three atomizers started having erratic behavior, I lost a battery, and now I'm out of all the eliquid I liked in the first place.

I guess I'm at a crossroad because I am tired of dripping and changing parts and losing parts and cleaning etc. I am considering buying the greensmoke e-cig, but I am worried that it may be yet another money pit with the throw away cartridges.

On the one hand I like that it frees up the problem of loose parts. On the other hand I don't like that it could seriously cost me a lot of money. At the same time can you put a price on your health?

What you are saying there are some important considerations. I really enjoy smoking analogs and I really have no desire to quit. There now you can tell I am a rebel lol

So for me, this is really going to need to be a very positive experience for me to stick with it. I don't exactly have deep pockets but I would be willing to go as far to say, I have no problem paying for something if its going to be high quality and provides a good experience to it all. In fact maybe I'll start a new thread on that :)

As a noob is there anyway to truly spot the "cheap knock off"? Other than really doing the research?

510 describes a 3 piece PV with a specific atty (the 510). There are different 'names' for the 510 which makes it confusing - the genuine JOYE ones and the 'knock off' ones (some find they work equally well, I prefer my JOYE brand lol) like Slb and Bauway. If the 510 is a genuine Joye it will say so on the vendors site - if it doesn't say its likely to be not genuine. If in doubt ask - most vendors are honest, and will tell you one way or the other and to many people its not an issue anyway.
If its says '510' then it will interchangeable with any other '510' parts including the eGo (which is also a 510, lol) with a longer lasting battery. The only difference with an ego (which also goes by different names on different sites) is the charger wont fit the 'basic' 510 battery.
Have alook at the ECF Library thread 'the wonderful world of vaping' by DonDaboom Vape - it shows the different atties/PV and what they look like.

I think that if you stick with recommended vendors from the forum, you will be ok. I don't use a 510 but I understand that what you're looking for is a Joye510 and the vendor I see recommended most is for the Joye510 is cignot. Maybe someone will chime in to verify?

I use a KR808D-1, specifically the VaporKing from Vapor4Life. I love it. It's reliable, the flavors and strengths of liquids available are fabulous, and they're having a 21% off sale right now. Try the Peppermint Patty - it's wonderful!

Whichever model you choose, it will be much better than smoking. Good luck and welcome to the forum!

Do you use the manual or the automatic?

Hi Dubs, Thanks for the heads up. I had read that before, it's actually how I found this forum because I had done the same google sounds like. By then though I had already ordered it and it was on the way.

That tread appears to be from last year and mentions a 2 to 4 week turn around, as well as only accepting paypal. I ordered my kit on Tuesday night and I received it today and I used a credit card. I ordered from them because of a friend who turned me onto the idea of e-cigs, she's been using them for about three months I think.

Thus far I'm happy with things, I've been using it most of the day. I guess my only real complaint so far is that I probably paid more than I should have, it was $69 for what seems to be the basic kit, two batteries, on vap uniti, and 25 flavored cartridges.

I couldn't quite figure out what the reference was to discontinue use of the Blu unit in that thread.

Based on what I've read here I have been looking at some other brands and almost pulled the trigger on an order a little bit ago, but decided to wait a little bit.

I'm also pretty new. I've been vaping (and continuing to smoke analogs, unfortunately) for about a month now.

I started out with a Joye 510, which I liked.

However, I recently purchased an eGo from Janty and love it!

It is wider then the 510, has a larger battery, but still has a nice overall size to it, feels "right" in your hand, but best of all, lasts MUCH longer, and produces much more vaper (well, for me) then the 510.

It really has given me a vaping experience MUCH closer to smoking then the 510 did, and I'm not bashing the 510, because I initially liked the Joye 510.

I can use the atomizer from the 510 with the eGo but not (perhaps obviously) the batteries from the 510.

The eGo lasts me all day on one charge, and I don't need to add juice nearly as often as I did with the 510.

You can view videos of the eGo on youtube.

If you end up deciding to try another e cig, you could do much worse then trying the eGo (costs about $80 for two batteries, two (?) atomizers and I believe 5 carts).

Good luck!

(By the way, try the one you already have, and if it works for you, stick with it! No need to immediately purchase another ecig)

I agree that the amount in a cartridge is exaggerated. From what I've read, most retailers say they're about ten cigarettes in one cartridge. My (limited) experience says to me it's more like 3 min and 10 max cigarettes per cartridge depending on how lucky you are. Not really a problem if you're filling your own, but if you're chucking your cartridges every time one's kaput, it would be kind of annoying. Especially since as they get lower they seem to produce less vapor, and it would be harder to sate a craving on a near dead cart than one that's brand new.

Definitely the manual - XL. A battery lasts for hours.

I've tried the automatics and I just don't like them. The manuals are far superior.

That's something I am having trouble wrapping my brain around. The one I have is auto and at least so far I really like that. I've been using it really without thinking much about it, after the initial few times with the novelty of it all. So I'm not quite getting why a manual would be better?

Aloha Stage.

The 510 is the most popular unit among members, followed by the KR808D-1. Both are user friendly, lots of accessories available, and upgradeable.

I went for a genuine Joye 510 from Cignot, which also happens to be one of the most recommended vendors by ecf members. Those ladies give unbelievable service. Check out their reviews in the ecf suppliers forum (Cignot's about 3/4 way down the list).

Either unit will give you the quality and good experience that you're looking for.

You are not a rebel! On the contrary, join the huge club here. There are many members (myself included) that started vaping w/ no intention of quitting.

As you continue to vape and smoke, quitting just becomes a natural part of the process and it "sneaks up on you" and you become an "accidental quitter" as some members so aptly phrased it.

ps: sorry this post is late...had to leave the computer for several hours after starting it. lol
