Lol yeah, I bought my mag in Alaska and used it at least 10x a day working as an engineer on a boat with finicky engines/generators. That's why when I finally killed it by breaking the little gold contact, I couldn't bring myself to throw it away. Since then it was collecting dust until I went on a scavenger hunt to find something to drop a 5v mod into last night.
If it were still a functioning flashlight I would never have taken the dremel to it.

Oh btw if anyone is considering doing anything similar to their mags please do yourself and everyone around you a favor and at the very least use protected batts and put some holes in it so if the batteries go critical, they won't turn the thing into a grenade.
I bored holes in the endcap and through the plastic spacer that sits between the batteries and the lightbulb in a non-modded mag, the gas would then be deflected by the refractor long enough to keep my face from melting. This way, one ...'plodin battery won't turn the other battery into a 21 gram bullet.
