I am new to vaping about 2 weeks and was really 'getting the hang' of it when about 5 days ago I was awakened with blister-like hives in various areas of my body. I at first thought a flea or spider befriended me under the bed clothes and just used Cortisone and Benedryl gel to calm the horrible burning. I continued to get the hives and never gave a thought to vaping for about 2 more days 'DAH' I quit the vaping now 4 days -some of the blisters have healed but I am still getting 1 or 2 a day -- I have not slept a whole night in a week with the burning itch and swelling and ended up seeing my Dr today who perscribed Prednisone for 3 days .I am holding off taking it in hopes it will resolve and flushing my system with extra fluids . I did drink plenty of h2o while vaping . I used a vision spinner -iclear - tobacco and blackberry e juices. I am now soooo disappointed . Please I hope not to discourage any new vaper'er but it seems like something in the e-juice had an accumulative effect as I had no symptoms the first week.

Have you ever been allergic to things like toothpaste? Hand & body lotion? Soaps and facial washes? Mio water enhancer? Palm or coconut oil? The propylene glycol and vegetable glycerin in e-juice are also in a very large percentage of things we use every day. If you happen to be allergic to any of the above it might be easier to track down what exactly caused the problem. If you've never shown a reaction to anything with PG or VG in it then it could be possible that it was a particular flavoring.

Ok you sweet people for getting back to me so quickly --- (see I am up scratching like a dog w/fleas lol at 2.30 am West Coast time ).. Yzer to answer your Q --I have smoked 10 -12 cigs for about 20 years and had not completely quit while vaping . Will this 'stop me 'from trying again probably not depending on my research and suggestions from the caring folk on ECF. I have read a few posts with similiar issues to mine and they suggest - omit the P/G -do only natural juices w/no additives and try a plain flavour like watermellon -(my juice was 12 mg nic and I tried only 2 flavours -blackberry and a tobacco -(another post said she uses only V/G based w/organic non citrus flavours -vaped only for a day and waited several to test for allergy and it worked for her ) Thank you all

I suspect that you are running into problems a lot of people get when they quit smoking. It's not the e-juice.

There are a lot of other addictive and psychoactive compounds in tobacco tar besides nicotine. You are suffering from withdrawal symptoms from those compounds.

If you tough it out for three days after quitting smoking the worst of those symptoms will go away.

Itches, twitches, loss of sleep, and just about every nasty symptom that your mind and body can come up with are designed to get you smoking again. Tough it out for a few days.

And... do what your doctor says to do.

You can test if you're allergic to vg by buying a bottle of USP grade glycerin at your CVS and mix it with the ratio of 85% glycerin and 15% distilled water (don't use drinking water nor water from the tap). Shake it really well and vape it. If your symptoms subside, then at least you know it's not the vg.

Good luck, it must be awful. Keep checking with your doctor, it may be shingles or some other kind of ailment.

You have to try to narrow it down to see if the cause is vaping.

Get a small bottle of unflavored PG (can be with nicotine) and a bottle of unflavored VG liquid. You can purchase these or if you know anyone that DIY, they can make you a batch.

Try each for a week and rule out the PG/VG culprit. There's about 10% of the population allergic to PG or VG. If everything is ok, you'll have to see if it's one of the flavorings. A member reported issues with banana flavoring once.

You may find you really like the unflavored. It's really not bad at all.

Well so far today I have no new outbreaks so hopefully it's resolving -however the allergan culprit will take a while for me to figure out and I am going to try the steps you all gave me . I wil ask a a vendor like HHV or VV to make up a few test samples for me. I have not taken the prednisone as my Dr also said it takes about 10 days for an allergy of a known substance to subside hence i could wasit or take the Prednisone. Hugs and thanks to all of you
