I didn't get itch or rash. I got an uncomfortable burning skin sensation. Felt sort of like a mild sunburn EVERYWHERE.

I actually went to the doctor and she flat told me it was dehydration + sweat gone acidic with all the chemicals working their way out of my system right now.

She recommended lots of cool showers/baths with a hypoallergenic soap. Wear soft clothing so it doesn't get more irritated. Drink water until you slosh. It should pass in a week or 2 but that it might return when the next set of chemicals start coming out. She said if there was no improvement in a couple of weeks to come back and they would do some tests.

Just what I was told and not intended as medical advice. Honestly if it is going on long term I would see a doctor.

I know there have been other threads about allergies to PG however I couldn't find one that discussed being itchy but not having any kind of rash/hives if there is one sorry for posting again. I was wondering if anyone else gets itchy or maybe is it just my body getting used to vaping? I've only been doing it for 2 weeks and the itching just started about 3 days ago. I am drinking much more water than I used to because I am thirsty all the time and I've read how vaping can dehydrate you. Does this seem like a PG allergy or could it be something different? Dry skin from the vaping? Body adjusting or maybe a sensitivity and not an allergy?

You know, I'm having itchy skin problems that began before I switched to vaping. The weather's been... nuts. Ours down here (Texas) has been doing a "yo-yo" thing between warm and chilly with the humidity all over the place.

Also, there's that... sigh... aging thing.

(I still wanna know who's idea THAT was)

Pinning down "itchy" is... well, the number of things that can cause it, the list could stretch from here to your state. It could have nothing to do with your vaping at all...

I don't think I'm taking more nicotine than I was as I'm using the light (1.2mg) e-cig and I was on Marlboro lights before, smoking 12 a day and I'm now vaping the equivalent of 5 fags a day (10 drags at a time). Most of the itching I get is on my arms too, but always my upper arms. But I also experienced this when I stopped taking nicotine entirely and it lasted a couple of weeks. I will take 5 drags at a time instead of 10 and hopefully it won't make my heart feel funny.

Im having the exact same issue, really itchy for a few weeks now, hope it stops :(

Also keep in mind PG can cause dehydration that can cause itching as well.

I live in the desert. This isn't dehydration itching - it's hives. Nothing helps it. You can't sleep at night, it's intense and unbearable. Not just an occasional itch.. lol

FYI - I quit vaping a week ago and I'm fine now. I haven't itched once. I went from intense, non-stop, can't sleep at night itching, to no symptoms whatsoever. However, I'm smoking. Waiting for PG free samples to arrive.

I have to add my experience, because I do think that intense itching is related to vaping for those of us having some sort of allergic reaction. I smoked for 30 years and started vaping in mid-January of this year. I've never been a person to have skin sensitivities or any kind of allergies. I can pretty much go back to mid-January and pinpoint that is when the itching started. I was vaping a 50/50 mix with flavoring. I didn't put two and two together and continued vaping. I didn't have any issues quitting the analogs either, so this has really been a disappointment for me, as I'm trying to figure out just what is causing this reaction.

As the weeks went on, I started itching more. I started getting hives. It would move around - sometimes an arm, sometimes a leg, my scalp, my face, my ears, my hands. I thought it was my laundry soap - even though I have never had allergic reactions to anything before in my life (I'm 46). I threw out my laundry soap and rewashed everything in the house, bought new shower soap, new handsoap, everything. I bought all "free and clear" soaps and that didn't help. Then it got to the point where I was losing sleep. I would itch all night. If I even so much as touched my face or a leg, I would start to itch. It's been absolutely terrible. I've had full blown hives now for a week or so. It's almost as if it started off slowly when I first started vaping and then, as my body was taking in more of the eliquid it just got worse. It's to the point where it is unbearable.

After seeing some people mentioning itching, I switched over to 100vg. I used the 100vg (same flavoring I used when I was vaping 50/50) for a couple days. The itching did not go away, but I only gave it two days. I went back to smoking - not because I want to smoke analogs again - but because I need a break from this horrible itching. I'm going to give it about 5-7 days and see what happens, but I can say right now that the itching has almost gone away. I have a little here and there, but I can touch my skin without immediately breaking out in hives. I'm pretty sure it's subsiding and I'll post again at the end of the week to let you know if it's completely gone. Right now, I'm just to the point where I need to confirm that this is from vaping. I'm certain it is, but the only way to know for sure is to start the analogs and quit the vaping to see what happens.

My question is - if completely gone, then what? I'm thinking now it may not have been the PG or VG, but maybe the flavoring?

Does anyone have suggestions as to a good supplier with 100vg and flavorings that might be less likely to cause an allergic reaction?

This is pretty much my exact experience also!

I quit the analogues about 2 month ago, first i bought an E-Lites disposable from the train station. It was crap! nThen after a little research i bought a vaporlites kit and that was better, tasted more like a cig and lots of vapor but it was quite a heavy large device so i craved something that looked and felt more realistic so after a little more research i bought a ROK mini cig kit and this was great. It was the right size, great taste and even more vapor, i was well happy with this and over the moon that id actually found something that would help me kick the ciggies no problem and it did, i didnt have a cig for a month and it was easy!

Now, my problem is for the last 3 weeks ive been itching like mad and have gone through the same thought process, is it the washing powder, the dog etc.......... then i realised its got to be the PG! So since ROK e cigs are 100% PG i bought a ego T and some of ROK`s tobacco e liquid that is 60% PG and 40% VG but since vaping this if anything its stayed the same if not got worse! Im hoping now its just my body getting rid of all the toxins in tobacco!

Its such a let down for me as i was so excited to finally stop smoking and really enjoy vaping :(

Think ill persevere and try different things as the itch thing is just about bareable most of the time but sometimes its really stressful but at the moment its worth it just to stay off the cigs but dont know how much longer i can take this itching haha!

Fingers crossed it goes away!

The itching for me didn't come on right away either. But because I took a short time off of work when I started vaping, I'm able to remember what timeframe the itching started - and it was about a week after starting vaping. But it was only here and there - nothing that I recall causing me issues. But the longer I vaped, the more the itching started happening. I remember when it went from good to bad and that was when I was walking in the grocery store and, all of a sudden, both my arms started itching between my hands and my elbows. I mean intense, drive me crazy itching. And I looked down and I had hives on my arms. It came out of nowhere. From that point on, it got worse every single day and night. It was just taking over my life. I had been vaping for 3 months. That's how I found this website - searching for anyone else that might be having this problem. I just had to throw in the towel and got cigarettes late last week. I did a straight 100vg for a day or so, but found out the flavor had PG. And the itching was still intense for that full 1-2 days. So I totally quit the ecig and the itching completely disappeared. I really hope this is a PG issue and I should find out next week once my samples arrive. This itching and hives is something that has never happened in my entire life so, for me, it was pretty easy to figure out it was related to vaping.

Sounds pretty much like you have the same problem as me!

Think ill have to try 100% VG and see what happens.

Its typical that i find something that works for me to kick the ciggies then im ....ing allergic to it haha FFS! :(

Can you private message people on here as i would be interested to see how you get on with this issue and we can maybe exchange notes?

I'll keep updating this post as I try to figure this out. I did get a couple of samples today from another vendor that are 100 pg free, but they were really kind of bad (in my opinion) and I'm waiting on a big order of 6ml bottles from Heather's Heavenly Vapes. Should be here next week. For now, I'm back to Marlboro Ultra Lights.. but sleeping at night itch free. I'm impatient, as I want to vape again and ditch these horribly tasting cigarettes.

After almost 4 weeks my itch and hives have subsided - I have not gone back to vaping and only vaped for 1 week before my skin issues started. Will try again -but organic -the least additives and Vg.

The hardest part about 'could it be from vaping' is that many things are coincidence and/or anecdotal.

An allergy can get worse, after you sensitive to something, but allergy to inhaled substances themselves - because it hist the lungs and blood and fluid system of the body so fast usually does not take days or weeks to develop.

Its also human nature to blame the newest thing one eats or does for something not making them feel right. It could have nothing to do with that new food you ate last night or a new makeup you tried or a new soap or whatever it could be coincidence but people tend to look at last things first sometimes.

In other words, itchy skin can be caused my many things - some of those could be happening coincidentally to starting to vape - pollen in the air, warm weather but it would immediately make one think of the very different things they are doing first.

Lots of people develop some dehydration signs when they start vaping - it never goes away but most people adjust their fluid intake often unconsciously over a period of time na dit goes ways. There are lots of factors that come into play not just any one ingredient that dehydrates you -even the fat that the vapor will pick up moisture from your lungs on exhale can add to dehydration.

Being so dehydrated that you skin is as dry as to be that itchy would be pretty severe dehydration - you would suffer others signs such as nausea, vomiting, headaches, dry mucus membranes, fever and so on before skin gets that bad. That said remember you have surrounded yourself with the crap in analogs for a long time. No matter how much you bathe that gluck is still deep into pores and skin and only the top parts are washed away, deeper maybe sweated or sloughed away but remember you were replacing more junk in your skin then you were ever washing away or sloughing off. Now that stuff can work its way out and not me trapped back in there by more glunk being laid on top of it. Simply that mixed with normal body oils aying as residue on the top of your skin waiting to be washed off or removed as skin cells fall off can dry the top layers, irritate the skin and make it itch. More water will help flush the junk out faster but probably won't relieve the feeling of itchiness. You might want to think about showering (or bathing once and showering another) for a few days just to move off that top itchy layer of skin and the gunk its taking away with it. Oily moisturizer might hold that stuff in rather then letting it god away so you might want to try something like colloidal oatmeal in your bath water and a oatmeal body wash.

Nicotine residue on hands coming in contact with the body can also cause an itchy reaction - sometimes a very itchy reaction. Often people have a short term problem and its the nicotine and it subsides as they get better at handling their PV and more aware of hand washing/wiping/carrying toilets etc.

If you're really sensitive to PG and its not coincidental that you skin finally flushed everything about the time you switched from PG to VG be very careful because PG is not just for vaping - its in many, many products, pharmaceuticals, food products and so on. If you really are sensitive/allergic to in other things are also going to cause you problems. It could also be many other things that worked its way out of your system about the time you stopped the PG. The only way to know for sure is to test for sensitivity to PG - either by your doctor or doing your own skin test with a drop or two of PG in the bend of your elbow like you would test for hair color sensitivity. Of course that means going to the expense of some pure PG (not sure how small you can buy a bottle of it) just for a few drops to test with and see if you react to it. Just using an e-juice that has PG in it isn't a good test as it also has a bunch of other stuff in it other than PG and it could be something else in that specific e-juice that was a problem not the PG - if you changed flavors of vendors the other things could have change too so you were not just going to pure VG but maybe losing artificial flavors - many of which can give you itching. (Hives as an allergic reaction is a pretty big deal requiring medical treatment so it was probably not real hives)

Interestingly, many anecdotal reports of sensitivities to PG raise a question as to why they are not found to be possible reactions to PG in other pharmaceuticals - especially inhaled medications and so on, and why people only have these issues when vaped and not under other methods of intake. It probably needs a lot of study. One of the reasons PG was decided on was the fact that it had been used as a inhalation medication carrier for years on top of tested so deeply and things like were not reported. When it comes to reactions its really innocuous.

I read where someone was talking about acid indigestion problems. I know when I first started vaping I was I had the same problem and now and then still due but I know what cause it for me and its a warning I am getting sloppy so to speak. When I first started I was getting used to, of course, inhaling correct with the manual e-cig, handling e-juice, refilling the carts and clears and so on. It takes very little nicotine in some people to give them some very bad digestive system problems. Little bit of e-juice right along the center tube, even if it was not in it, was enough to bubble a drop in my mouth, or on the drip tip where it automatically would be licked. Leaks and handling problems get it on your hands and the place hands go most during the day is you mouth. I soon figured out that the indigestion was because I was swallowing e-juice abet VERY small amounts. Taking more care with filling carts/clears and just all around handling pretty much solved it. If I get sloppy and am rushing I can get acid indigestion again and know what I did wrong - keeping it out of me except by inhalation and making sure its not getting anywhere but my respiratory system makes it go away. Swallowing an inhale trying for a Th can also do it - you get extra air in your stomach and the vapor drops the e-juice particles off on the wall of the esophagus and stomach sand pumps up acid production.

Just a quite update that I've been vaping 100vg (and no pg in the flavorings) for the past several weeks and I'm doing fine now. No issues with itching or hives at all. I'm really happy with Velvet Cloud Vapor. I've tried some of Heather's Heavenly Vapes Purity line also.

Fantastic. Good for you.

Well I only vaped for a week just starting out and I did it sparingly and was still not off analogs, the juice was 70/30 blackberry -welt-like hives appeared every time I scratched but I am going to give the vaping another try despite all the lost sleep  My plan is to get the least additives in e juices and no p/g . vape for day or two and take several days off .Will update again

Tacoma Wa,
I think i finally figured it out for my massive raised hives and itching!
I think it was the kanger Protank i was using.
My mod fell of my desk last week and the 510 thread post broke off..so i went back to another tank i used to use.
And i noticed the next day i had no hives and no itching at all... and figured it was just a good day.
But it's been over a week now and still nothing.
I know i have a slight nickle allergy, so i'm guessing the protank has alot of nickle in it maybe.

I'm just glad it's gone and i can vape away. :)

I just searched the forum for 'itching' and this thread is exactly what I was looking for.

My story, I have been vaping for a little over a year. 3 months ago I started having intense itching all over (with no rash, etc.)

I first just went to a local clinic, then I went to my general practitioner, then a dermatologist and no one has been able to figure it out, and nothing they have given me has made it any better.

Then last week I got bronchitis and stopped vaping (nothing for 5 days now). I still have itching, but it is not nearly as bad.

I do not know if it is related, but I'm going to watch this thread and will update if anything changes with my condition.

My concern as well!!

I'm very much allergic to soy, so I've been hesitant to try VG juice (usually soy based).
While, switching to a VG juice would be the typical response to your body not liking PG.

The PV has coincided with numerous allergic responses with me...that are similar to my food based soy intolerance.

I'm hoping it's just my body detoxing, and taking herbal remedies with lots of water.
I really love vaping, but if man-made constitutes cause more problems than my American Spirits...
I might be in trouble...

I'm curious if anyone with allergy sensitivities has a non soy VG juice to recommend.

I seem to have isolated my coughing and allergy issues down to the soy-based VG. Has anyone found any good e-liquids with a Palm or coconut VG that might be able to help with this?
