A New Battery Question

I just got my SmokeStik in the mail, it only had one battery, when I called them they said they would be sending me the second battery in a few days.
While I had him on the phone I noticed the battery I had in the charger (The LED on the charger) had turned green, I asked him if it was good to go, he said Yes, it was ready to use.
Everything I've read has said to charge the battery for the first time for 8-12 hours. Am I ok to start using this battery? Or should I let it sit on the charger for an extended amount of time even tho the LED is saying it's ready?

From what I read, the led's lie. If you only wait until it turns green, then you could shorten the charging power and or life of the battery. From what I have read, 12 hours is the magic number.

Take this advice with a grain of salt, because I am still waiting on getting my first e-cig in the mail

Use it now. The time it takes varies depending on how much charge is left in the battery. They don't have a memory so they can't be ruined by charging to long or not long enough. In fact, it's not possible to charge too long. When the charger light turns green it's done. No matter how much time has gone by, it's done. It won't charge any more if you leave it on there after the light turns green because the charging circuit in the charger is cut off.
