Welcome!
There are tons of helpful threads on ECF.
A quick tour of the new members should enlighten you considerably.
How often do you smoke?
What strength is you cigs now?
How much money do you want to spend?
What flavors do you like?
These are all questions you have to answer before anyone can help in the right direction.

Hi Sultan, welcome!

Everyone is going to have different opinions on brands/devices - I like my Ego for simplicity of use as a beginner, others like the bigger "mod" type devices for more power and being adjustable.

As far as juice, if you're a heavy smoker you may need 18 (or possibly higher) to start out with in order to get rid of cigarette cravings. Maybe not, though. I would try to start with 12 and reduce your regular smoking, if you're able to quit completely using that great, if you find you're still smoking a lot try 18 and see if that helps you get off cigarettes completely. If not, maybe try 24 - I would try something weaker first, you don't want any more nicotine than you really need.

Hi Sultan,
I am two weeks smoke free (today), from a pack and a half a day for the past 15 years. I started with a 24 mg nicotine juice and had almost zero desire to smoke. The best advice that I would give is to start with a good product....you get what you pay for. Also, I still go out with the guys at work for 'cig breaks'. Just to keep the ritual going. I find myself vapeing quite a bit on some days, so I keep extra juice and extra EVOD tanks at work with me, just in case! Best of luck to you in your venture to quit analogs. There is an incredibly supportive forum here if you need anything!

Greetings from the United States. :)

It really is about you. Your particular needs and such. No really about brand. That said, I recommend you buy originals, and not the unbranded knockoffs, initially. If you want a vivi nova tank, make sure it is a Visions brand. If you want a ProTank, buy a Kangertech. Later you can try the other (in some cases improved) variants. For now, stick with the originals.

You say you are a heavy smoker. I recommend you skip the little cigarette-like 'electronic cigarette' and also skip the lower nicotine e-juice at first. You will need 24mg/ml or even perhaps 36mg/ml. For a device: either go with the big sharpie pen size (eGo style) or jump right into the big cigar-like 'tube mods'. The big tube mods almost invariably give you the best vapor, the longest battery life before recharge, and hold the most e-juice. If you can handle carrying one around, they are definitely the best experience. I personally recommend the Lavatube V2, the eVic, or the ProVari. Each has it's pros and cons:

Provari is very high quality (and the most expensive), but the single button adjustment is a bit of a pain to learn and use.

The eVic is very nice and is the latest and greatest (techwise). Some of the eVic features are honestly needless-but-nifty tech, but the variable wattage feature is wonderful if you want to experiment with a lot of different tanks and such.

The Lavatube V2 is a great previous generation device. It is a workhorse tube mod without any real frills except great styling.

Be sure to take a moment and read this: Five fast things every new vaper should know.

If you go with a tube mod. I would say stay away from the cartomizer-core tanks (tank around a metal tube with fiberfill and an atomizer inside). I recommend you buy both a few Visions Vivi Nova tanks and a few Kangertech ProTanks (get the new version with the base-breakage problem fixed). As with the battery devices above, each has it's pros and cons. Trying both will tell you which you prefer.

Visions Vivi Nova is a top wick/atomizer tank. Kangertech ProTanks are bottom wick/atomizer. Both make great vapor, if used right.

Feel free to ask for any other help. I wish you good health and good fortune. Happy Vaping!

I smoked over a pack a day of Marlboro Reds for about 35 years, and quit in less than a week with eCigs, after having unsuccessfully tried all the other quitting aids. ECigs have been my saving grace, and have been for many others here.
The delivery method is a crap-shoot. There are so many different combinations of batteries and paraphernalia to turn liquid into vapor that it will hurt your head to try and figure it all out. I would start with what's popular right now and run with that. The Kanger MT3 and MT3s are really big right now, as is the Kanger EVOD, which is basically a smaller version of the MT3s. I use the MT3, after having tried literally dozens of different kinds of tanks. The Vivi Nova tanks are also really popular, although that's a top-wick style, so the consistency of vapor production is going to depend on you actively tipping it to keep the wicks wet.
As far as batteries go, I prefer something with adjustable voltage so it can be tuned (either automatically or manually, depending on the model you choose) to deliver the same wattage to the coil through the life of the battery's charge. The eGo Spinner is a great choice for a manually-regulated device, as they come in pretty high capacity so you can get one that'll last through a whole day of hardcore "sultaning." (Forgive me...I don't know what a Sultan does, other than hang out and be rich.) For an auto-regulating device, look into any "Variable-Voltage Mod," such as a VAMO V2 or V3, iTaste SVD, EVic, or something similar...there are hundreds to choose from. These devices will need batteries purchased separately, or bought as a kit including batteries and a charger.

As far as liquid strength, I started on 16mg, went to 20mg right away, then to 25mg right away after that. I'm at 25 today after 8 months with no cigs. As far as flavors, all the websites will have a sampler pack that will allow you to try different flavors in small amounts to decide what you like, but be warned: one flavor from site A can and often is very different than the same flavor from site B, and even different again at site C. The flavor I use is RY4, which is pretty common, and usually good from every place I've gotten it, although it's different from every place I've gotten it.

Check the following websites for researching and purchasing vaping stuff. Google 'vaping supplies' for more choices:

Best Starter Combo kit out there, imho, provides two batteries, i.e., the twist and/or spinner, and two toppers, i.e., the eVod and/or MT3s, among others: http://www.myvaporstore.com/Vision_Spinner_Joye_Ego_C_Twist_Combo_p/vvs-c.htm.

I see this kit recommended more than any other as a very GOOD starter kit. You will also need some replacement head coils, say a box of 5 to start, then, of course some good juices. Try sampler packs in tobacco and fruits in the smaller quantities to find what you like, then order in quantity.

Welcome to ECF, good luck, happy shopping and Vape On!

Welcome to the forum (salaam!). That is a very good choice, lots of flexibility. You'll have fun playing with it! Did it come with a tank or some way to deliver the liquid?

Do you have access to pretty much everything we have in the US, or are there certain restrictions? I don't want to name vendors that you aren't able to get in SA.

Hiya, well, you've come to a good place to get information. This is just my personal opinion: I would start at 24 mg of nic juice - taste is subjective, maybe a strong tobacco, as for a device, I should of started with a variable voltage device like an ego style ones are the twist, spinner or winder .. However, look into the itaste MVP - it's a good buy at Fasttech.

Good luck

I'm going to go out on a limb here and do something I really don't like the idea of doing. Giving suggestions as to what will work best for YOU.

For the ease and simplicity.
I would purchase two or three 1100 mAh eGo batteries.
Five or six CE4+ clearomizers.
And at least five or six bottles of juice. I would suggest two tobacco flavored juices and two or three fruit flavored juices.

As for where, or who, to purchase from.
I would suggest looking at the 2012 Juice of the year awards and select one of the top Vendors. This way you have a vendor that you know that a large number of actual users of the juices have chosen
This will give you several flavors to be able to switch around

And going back and looking at those winners myself I see that six of the top twelve flavors are all from Heather's Heavenly Vapors.
If you decide to go with them to start out with. I would inform you that their flavor 'Gandalf', which was number one is now named 'Legend' as they got into trouble for using the Lord of the Ring's name 'Gandalf' from the company who made the movies.

Correction. Six of the top twelve tobacco flavors. But they also have at least one in the tip five in every category.

And I should amend my suggestion to at least two or three tobacco flavors and a couple from each category to give you a good selection.
I myself love the Coffee flavors and the Chocolates as well as the fruity flavors for alternatives to tobacco flavors.

Sultan,

Congrats - you're going to love vaping and in a few month you'll wondered how you ever enjoyed analog cigarettes. :)

Based on two years vaping experience and a lot of $$ spent on finding an excellent set-up, I would highly recommend getting yourself a ProVari. The one button operation is super easy, the unit is super durable, and the vapor production is amazing. Go ProVari, you won't regret it.

Best of luck.
