Ok guys, whoever can lend me some help here would be greatly appreciated. I have done far too much searching on this forum and haven't really found what I'm looking for yet, so I decided to sign up and post. Hopefully it will be beneficial.

I'm not exactly looking to get into vaping as I am not a smoker. I did happen to notice as I was signing up that "ECF does NOT advise or condone the use of e-cigarettes by non-smokers" so I just wanted to make you all aware that I understand that. So don't get all preachy on me. :p

I am looking into getting an e-cig for a couple reasons:

One; I recently realized I have quite an oral fixation and I am aware that this can be a trait of one who smokes. After seeing plenty of videos on those forsaken 'free trial' sites, it seems that many smokers can happily switch from analogs because they can still satisfy the "hand-to-mouth" reflex. Or for those of us with an oral fixation problem that don't smoke, we snack. I've (only recently) considered the idea that perhaps a nicotine-free flavored e-cig could aid in curbing my desire to always put food in my face. I tend to gravitate towards candy, so I figured something chocolate or fruity flavored would still be a welcome sensation while avoiding dumping all those extra calories into my steadily growing gut.

Two; lets get off the topic of me taking up vaping while not being a smoker. I live a creative life. Without going into too much detail; I enjoy creating music, drawing, painting, photography, etc... if its art I'm into it. I am also very interested in film and you could say I am an aspiring filmographer. I have shot a few things before but am wanting to get more in depth and do a short film or two. I have ideas for a sequence where the character (me, for the time being) will need to be smoking—and of course I have no desire to smoke a real cigarette. This has led to me being interested in the e-cig.

I first got really interested about 9 or 10 months ago. And I ordered a trial kit from our good buddies over at (there was supposed to be a link here, but I guess I can't do that until I have 15 posts) Knightsticks. Surely most of you know how that went. I was looking for a free trial of course, and only after completing the order did the site let me aware that I was to be charged $100 for it after my 7 day trial period was up and billed $60 a month from then on to send me cartridges. Well, after 3 or 4 days I called to cancel without even having gotten the package yet and of course the lady became quite b*tchy with me but said I needed to send it back. I indicated that I was worried about being billed if I didn't get it back in time and she then let me know that I had two weeks to get it back to them. Crap, I was hoping to keep this free little thing to use for my film projects. So I got it a day or so later and I used it for a few days just to see what it was like and I quite enjoyed it. I mean it tasted pretty awful, but it was a cool experience. It looked convincing enough as well that I could use it as a 'cigarette simulator' for my films. Then I sent it back and everything was copacetic.

And so it has been only recently that I have decided to pursue this venture again, and now I'm seeking your advice.

I'm looking to get an e-cig that most accurately simulates a real one. I know most of the scene has gone the other way as you want to disassociate yourselves from the 'negative image' of smoking, and now mostly what's available comes in black or looks like a pen or has a blue led and usually comes equipped with a manual battery. No disrespect to anyone here, because I think they look pretty neat but I'm trying to find a cigarette clone in look and performance. I want it to be brown on one end, white on the other and glow red when I use it... without having to press a button. It seems to me after browsing through the supplier forum and clicking a bunch of links that it's all that's really available now and the only way to get a cigarette LOOK is through the shady trial sites.

I'm hoping someone can point me in the right direction to find a CHEAP (I'm still a student here, I don't have a huge budget for props) starter kit and hopefully one that I can get with a flavor other than tobacco or menthol. I don't care so much about PCCs or how long the battery lasts (I prefer the look of the shorter one), and I also don't want one that I have to refill... I'm looking for an automatic battery with the screw on cartridge. I don't care about whatever a throat hit is, but I do want as much vapor as possible so it looks good on camera. I'm looking for a PROP afterall, and I'd like to get away with spending less than 20 bucks if that's at all possible. Heck, if somebody has an old one they want to get rid of for cheap that would be great, and just tell me where I can get extra carts for it.

If you read all the way through this I thank you, and I'm sorry I made it so lengthy but I hope you can appreciate the fact that I'm only a newbie when it comes to e-cigs and not when it comes to forums. I searched for quite a while before I posted: yay for noobs that don't just sign up and start a new thread with the same simple question for the 8th time this week!

Thanks for your time and thanks in advance for any info you can lay on me here. :)

SS Choice No.7 sells disposable e-cigs for 12.49 and starter kits for 39.95. they are super minis so they look almost identical to an analog (tan colored filter and all).
And i dont see any trouble with a non smoker vaping if lets say the e-liquid used is zero nicotine. vaporbomb.com and im sure many others sell 0-nic.

As for amount of vapor, prefilled cartridges usually dont give off huge amounts of vapor since most are filled with PG liquid. Add some VG in your mixture (i get 80%PG-20%VG) and youll be smokin' like a chimney.

Does anyone see a problem with "(for myself AND the kids)."? These are not for kids, whether or not it is pretend!

Yes, I saw "myself AND the kids" and thought "this dude is nuts to be asking here....

I cant see anyone thats been around here for a while giving you advise on what ecig will look most realistic for a non smoker AND the children he will be working with, as if that statement wasnt creepy enough.

Again, it's for film purposes; they call it acting. Children aren't supposed to swear either, but they are doing it younger and younger these days in movies. I'm sure you've seen kids do things in movies that they shouldn't do like smoking, drinking, cursing... heck I mean of course they don't actually do anything, but there are movies that portray underage sexual situations.

I hope you understand my point. And if I were to have any underage smoking scenes you better believe I am going to make it well known to them that it's only pretend and that smoking is unacceptable.

I do not have a problem with you or any adult wanting to try vaping to replace compulsive snacking. I am very overweight myself and I vape flavors to try not to gain weight now that I no longer smoke. I would make sure that it is 0 nicotine because nicotine is a drug and an addicting one at that. You might want to make your own flavor so you can put alot of VG in it to create a vapor if that is what you want.

However, as a mother and a grandmother, I cannot advise anyone to allow kids to vape. I know that there are many films where children are shown smoking. I don't know how they do it. But I would not want any child to think that smoking is fun or cool in any way, and there is a chance that vaping could do that.

All of the sites I have ever visited make it clear that this is for adults only. If you purposely buying for kids to use, then you are violating the policies of that company. There is even a chance that you could end up getting that supplier into trouble.

As an additional note, it is things like this that cause the problems with people wanting to ban vaping. They say that the flavors are marketing to minors. We should never encourage any activity that reinforces those opinions. I smoked for 40 years and vaping has literally saved my life. I don't need the government finding a way to end that.

If you want a prop then use a Prop...like a white stick or something.
Plus I thought the whole smoking on film was a Huge nono these days, let alone kids doing it.
The "vaping community" already has enough bad press, and nasty politics going on about the "flavors" being made only to incite children into being addicted to nicotine.
It's one of the reason the "anti's" are wanting to ban ecigs for everyone.
Suggesting they use one, even in a pretend on stage only kinda way isnt going to go over well. As it threatens the legal availability for people who really need this.

The oral sensation of inhaling and exhaling smoke...or vapor. Is a very different need from the oral sensation of wanting something in your mouth to play with or chew on.
Try gum, peppermint sticks, lemon drops, carrots.
I see what your going for...but I dont think this what your looking for

ALRIGHT FORGET THE KIDS!!!

I guess nobody here has seen the video on youtube of the Indonesian BABY that smokes 40 sticks a day? Any intentions I had were PSA driven to prevent underage smoking.

In the movie Lord of War they show kids shooting up ...... and smoking cuban cigars. its all acting, some people just get moist when you mention anything about children.

Extremely valid points. I understand and I wouldn't want to do that at all. I'm just looking for myself then... as a movie prop. I guess I'm better off just getting a trial in that case, and just cancel my credit card or something to avoid unwanted charges?
