A noob vv question

I am making a vv bottomed altoid tin mod. I am using the lm2596. I assembled the chip/batt contact/atty connector set up and metered the pos/neg parts of the atty connector. My meter is showing continuity between them. This is my first vv mod. I thought maybe the atty connector had a bad insulator so I chopped the wires and took it out. I meter it now and it's fine. Is the chip somehow shorted out? Is there supposed to be continuity between the pos/neg while connected to the chip? I just have no VV APVs as a baseline. Thanks

Edit: nevermind. That wouldn't matter.

I just checked mine and I have ~78 ohms between pos and neg. I'd assume it something to do with how the chipset operates that gives if continuity. Or possibly the output capacitor, but I don't know enough about capacitors to say if they should have a certain amount of continuity.

I have given up on this mod. I am buying a vv reo grand when they become available anyway. Well I wasted a whole bunch of time. I have now found out I do not like working with metal boxes. I will stick to my beloved wood mods. I really enjoy making those.

Thanks for the reply. I think that it is normal. I plugged in my lm2596 passthrough I made for my reo, shut off power and metered the connector and found similar results.

I persevered and made the mod after all, however crappy it may be

It works exceptionally well but I hold my work to a high standard. At least I have a bottom fed mod with vv that will last me like two days without maintenance

Very nice. Sometimes you have to say screw it and go for function over form. I always though the altoids tins were the definition of function over form. What goes through a non-vapers brain when they see an altoids mod?

Thanks guys! It was a squeeze for sure. I had to cut out one of the rounded corners to make room for the caps. I think I will be making another for my friend. I love this thing. It doesn't sit on a table real well standing up but oh well. I have the feeling my friend will be floored when I surprise him with one
