Last I checked, HG Wells didn't have detailed blueprints for a time travel device. H. Gilbert actually did have patented blueprints for an electronic cigarette, which look very similar to today's electronic cigarettes. The technology for H. Gilbert's idea simply wasn't available in 1963 for his invention to be realized.
incorrect. An invention is NOT an invention until built. Prior thought and diagrams are a concept/idea.
All that was required beyond metal was a battery and a fluid(flavoring/medicine/etc.)All available.

Gilbert actually invented what we consider the Dripping atomizer:2cool:

Herb Gilbert patented a device. However, patenting something is not the same as inventing something. You aren’t required to prove that your design actually works in order to get a patent. You aren’t even required to prove that the design is physically possible.

You really can't say you have invented something until you prove that it works. Until then, it's just an idea, not an invention.

Maybe another thread should be started for Mr. Hon Lik.. as i doubt he would be willing to participate on the forum considering where this thread has gone.

Jeez! Where did this thread go? Anyone who is a fan of Hon Lik, just say thank you and share a like. For fans or Mr. Gilbert, let another thread be started for him (especially if you can find some contact info).

Thank you Mr. Hon Lik, I repeat you are one of my hero's. The E-cig has the potential in IMO to save many lives. It seems Mr. Lik was honored by the Kcancer group. http://www.prlog.org/10588774-hon-lik-2010-kcancer-hero-nominee.html

A nobel prize would be better.

I certainly like the spirit of your suggestion, Arnie!

Maybe instead of framing it as an invitation to join ECF, we could simply start a "thank you" letter about how his invention has changed so many lives, and invite ECF members to sign it. It could include a link to ECF so, if Mr. Lik wishes, he could visit here and see how many lives his invention has improved. Not sure the mechanics of signing such a letter, but it's my thought.

Thank you. That was really the spirit or intention of this thread.

How this thread devolved from a thank you thread, into a conversation about Da Vinci and derogatory remarks about Mr. Lik's countrymen feeding their workers Dog Food, I just do not understand! I am all for freedom of speech, but as e-cig users, this is the ultimate disprect to a man who may well be responsible for saving your and mine lives. This thread was meant to honor and pay homage to him and to thank him for what he has done.

To the moderators: Please delete/close this thread. and particularly do what you can to ensure that Mr. Lik does not see that Dog Food post. Its amazing how people can talk about China's policies, yet we have a huge thread where people rave about their products and how low their prices are.

I will create two new separate threads for Mr. Lik and Mr. Gilbert. These threads will be thank you threads, where you simply say thanks and sign your name. Let's keep all remarks positive and on topic. I am uncertain whether Mr. Gilbert is still alive, but he may well have relatives in Beaver Falls or elsewhere. I will try to find contact info for him/them.

Thank you.
