A possible deal for Robert @ REOSmods?

Have any of you communicated with Robert? I've got a deal I was considering proposing to him. I am a wood turner and have dozens of large blocks of exotic wood with incredible grain patterns. I would like to send him a few of these blocks (enough to make probably 2 dozen mods) free of charge if he would make one for me out of the block I pick out. I'm willing to pay in full for the mod of course and he could keep the rest of the wood. Seems like a win\win to me. What do you guys think? Possible?

P.S. Others have sent him blocks of exotic wood to make them a Reo....

Of course, I agree. I would never try to set his schedule. That would certainly be a deal killer. I'm a patient guy.

I PM'd him earlier today, I want a curly maple mod to match my SO's custom banjo, he said he won't be doing any wood mods for another month

As great as this sounds, and as much as I would love one of these as well I feel like this would open a hole can of worms where people would be asking for custom orders along the same lines as yours. It would be great if it would be kept under the radar.

Not to mess with a Reo thread, BUT, if indeed Rob simply can't do this, there IS a modder who's stuff looks VERY nice, who sort of specializes in turning gorgeous blocks of wood into bottom feeding mods. OK to mention or link to it here?

And even when he announces he's starting, the last run took 5 months between announcement and sale.

As it has been mentioned in previous posts, Robert has done this in the past.

People would buy a block or blocks of wood and work out an agreement with Robert to make them a REO and use the extra as he wanted.

Robert would charge the same for a wood REO even if you send in the wood.


At this time Robert has stated that he is NOT doing any custom work. There is a lot on his plate and his time is precious. Keeping separate block of woods with names and instruction for REO size is really too much to ask of him.

We don't know what the future holds. I am sure he will let us know if and when custom orders will be accepted.

From his point of view, I'm afraid he wouldn't want to set a precedent. I'm able to keep my mouth shut about any deal we set up, but he doesn't know me and couldn't count on that.
Heck, I'm a woodworker. Maybe I'll see what I can create.

I know who you are referring to. He does beautiful work but charges more if you supply your own wood and starts out +$100 over reos.
And a very long waiting list.
