So I was working in a data center today, and I was perhaps 14 feet above the data center floor which was a vinyl tile over concrete kind of floor (1/8" thick or so tile laid directly on concrete) so there was not any give to it. I dropped my satin silver ProVari from this height, and down, down, down it fell. It crashed with a thud. When I got to the floor, I picked up my ProVari and the Protank was still intact (quite surprising) and it worked just fine (not particularly surprising).

When I got back to my office, however, I noticed something...it was a bit tilted. A closer look revealed the following condition...

Sorry the pic is a bit blurry...here is one more....

So I got to Provape.com to see what they have to say about it. What do you know, there is a FAQ about this exact condition! Here is the link, if you are interested.

So what do they recommend....

Luckily, the top cap is press fit into the tube and if you want, you can fix it from home. Just stand the ProVari on a hard surface and put a flat piece of wood over the top cap. Then use a hammer to tap the cap back into place. The piece of wood will protect it from getting dents.

Got that? Put it between a couple of pieces of wood and hammer that top cap right on back into place. Okay, I'm game! So I did it. What do you know? It worked. I had to smack it pretty good, but it did go right on back down.

By the way, I removed the battery, and the end cap before doing this. I figured the less strain on the internals the better, and I could see no reason to strain the threads. I don't know if this was necessary, it just seemed like a good idea to me. Whatever.

So here is the result of the repair....

Sure enough, a happy ending. Quite a spill she took, and never missed a beat. I can't even find any cosmetic damage. I love this device!

It is funny, my eVic had a nearly identical fall in height, maybe a couple feet less, and the head came completely off. Now, i don't blame the eVic for suffering catastrophic damage in this case, but it was inoperable. The head came off and one of the wires disconnected. I was able to solder the wire and reattach the head, but it was never quite the same and the head was replaced in a CoOp within a month or two. So while the repair was difficult and required some tools and skill not every vapor has, it also was a temporary fix due to irreparable harm done to the head connection on the device.

I suspect there is zero long term damage in my ProVari. Even when the head was cocked like it was, it had no effect on the vapor quality. I did not even know there was an issue until I set it on my desk and noticed the Protank was pointing off at an angle that was distinctly not perpendicular to my desk!

Funny thing was, it was no big deal to me when I noticed the problem, cause even if I had mucked up the repair, I was fully prepared to ship it to my buddies at Provape for a quick, cheap, first rate repair! Ah, the joys of ProVari ownership...

Actually, I was not thrilled to see it, but all the while I watched it fall, and on the walk down to it, I thought, "no matter what happens, it will be made whole and mine again within a week. It is a ProVari, after all."

I can count on the folks at Provape to take care of my ProVari forever.

You should have seen the guy I was working with when he saw it happen. He kept waiting for me to freak out cause he knows how I love it. But, I just calmly walked down, picked it up and vaped away. I turned and looked at him and smiled.

He was stunned and speechless. He just stood there catching flies.

LOL,,,it's a tank all right,,,,,,,

before I held it in my hands myself, I (for some reason) kept picturing it made cheaply,,,,,I don't know why, except so much is made cheaply today,,,,,

the minute I held it, I knew what y'all meant about the build quality!

I'm not gonna lie...the 1st time I held one I was thinking--that's all? Not sure what I was expecting.
But then after getting my very own in the mail today it felt like there was a glow surrounding me.
I don't think I've put it down for longer than 5-10 min at a time.
