I was just thinking about this the other day, but in the opposite. I remember when I was smoking, if I wasn't able to smoke I felt aggitated and annoyed - I am sure any smoker knows the feeling. On a 5 hour flight to Hawaii, I would have eaten a cigarette if I thought it would have helped!

Now that I vape, I never really feel that kind of urgency anymore. I know part of the reason is that I have the means to vape, even if discreetly, just about anywhere I go. I think it's because I know if I feel the need, I can head to the ladies room for a few quick puffs.

I really think just knowing that takes the pressure off - and I never feel that feeling anymore, which is great. It could also be that I am getting less nicotine and therefore not feeling as panicked about it too - hard to say! lol

For me, vaping has definately improved the whole experience! I HATED not being able to smoke when I wanted to and feeling aggitated and cranky because of it - I don't feel so addicted these days, more like just an enjoyment then an addiction.

Does that make sense to anyone but me????? lol ;)

Irritability after a period of nicotine withdrawal? Nawwwww, thats crazy talk! However, I have noticed that if I don't eat at all, I don't feel as energized, and get this hollow pit kinda feeling in my stomach.

Teehee

Hell, I use my mood as a homemade nicotine meter sometimes.

I've been getting some weird reactions lately - I think I may have just been vaping too much - also playing around with PG/VG ratios, starting to wonder if I have issues with the PG. ANYway, I've been trying to force myself to vape less, and sometimes take a break for several hours... and do I get pissy? You betcha. Especially around the 3 hour mark, the littlest thing will set me off. Ugh. Moodiness is pretty standard though for nicotine withdrawal

Care to explain a bit?

Not to get off-topic, but have been gettin a sort of stiff feeling in the chest, and occasional shortness of breath that seems to come and go. At times I start yawning a lot, and feel like I have to take a really big deep breath to get enough air. Seems exacerbated when I vape heavily, and also when I don't drink enough water. Backing off the vaping when possible, and pounding the water (like reeeeaaallly pounding a ton of it) helps a bit

Tried some 50/50% VG/PG juice, and it seems to have helped a little. So after figuring that out, I've now also got some 100% VG juice on the way. (wish I didn't have to wait for shipping - argh)

You're a 100% VG vaper aren't you Jeffree? What kind of reactions pushed you to that? I keep thinking that if I were fully allergic to PG, my reactions would've been more severe. (is it possible to be "a little allergic" to something?) I must admit I kinda hope its not the PG, because V4L's selection of VG-only juice is really limited. I already feel like I've cheated on a girlfriend, by ordering the 50/50 juice from the other vendor (only did that because I had no idea what ratio to pick, and they had a specific flavor I really wanted to try that V4L doesn't offer). It felt more oily, less TH, more visible vapor... which tells me it has more VG and less PG... Happy coincidence that my adverse reaction seemed to lessen. (but still present... so, will continue to experiment, by eliminating the PG, as soon as it arrives - argh)

Yes, there are varying degrees of allergy! Which is why some people just swell up a little, and others stop breathing when stung by a bee. Why some people get a bit stuffed up, and some people's eyes and nose run and they can't stop sneezing all spring long. Why some people break out in hives when they eat peanut butter, and some go into anaphylaxis. And also, some people aren't actually allergic but just sensitive. If you noticed an improvement when you lowered the PG, then you are probably a bit allergic or maybe just sensitive to the PG. Always wise to cut out something you know effects you negatively at any rate because you because allergies can become more severe the more you are exposed.

Hmm, food for thought. The one thing that has baffled me is why none of this showed up until I was over a month in. Maybe thats it - or a combination of PG sensitivity along with my lungs becoming more sensitive as I get farther from analogs (like the thicker-tar-coating was actually protecting my lungs from whatever is irritating them now).... Not like they're done cleaning out yet, but I do find myself more sensitive now to other odors/fumes/smoke, etc... Hell, it could have nothing to do with the PG or the VG, I don't know. Unfortunately, I won't have any idea until I can try some with the 100% juice. (for good measure I also ordered some 100% PG juice, just in case I try the 100% VG and it makes things even worse - I doubt this somehow, but just in case)...

You've also been trying a lot of flavors (going by your postings with the reviews) - is it possible it could be some kind of allergy to a flavoring? Something like ones with cinnamon or ones with coffee give you a problem where others do not? While waiting for your VG juice to arrive it may be worth vaping only a flavor you used early on (prior to any issues) for a few days and see how that goes.

Indeed, that had also crossed my mind as well - it was my first thought actually...

Tried limiting myself to a a single flavor for a couple days, (tried with a couple different flavors, one at a time), and it didn't really seem to change anything. By the end of my second attempt was when the 50/50% flavors arrived, and I switched to them, and almost immediately noticed some improvement. At first, I thought I was totally "cured"... at which point, I went back to "normal" vaping amount with the new stuff - and then started to notice the exact same shortness of breath feeling come back (but not as much chest discomfort)... which is what has me thinking that maybe its not the flavors, but rather the concentration of PG.

In any case, I do hope I'm getting close to zeroing in on the issue. Really want to figure this out.

EDIT : Scratch the hope/want part. I am GOING to figure it out dammit - and am so confident that I will, that I have a couple more XL's (and a crap ton more coolcart blanks) on the way. :D

(sorry Krazie - didn't mean to hijack your thread - but you mentioned nic fits - and I'm like AAAHHH yeah I can relate!, as I'm down to one or two small puffs per hour just to stay sane)

QFT. I am an considered to be an allergic type individual. I don't build tolerances just get more sensitive. FE, the first time I took a sulfa drug I didn't really notice any real bad reactions but the 2nd time... Woah! It took 4 days but by the time I saw a dr I could barely breathe. This was with already taking Claritin.

BTT:

I never really was one to get aggravated or irritated when I couldn't smoke. I just fall asleep! Seriously, deprive me of nicotine or caffiene and I simply can't function. It's like I'm in a fog the whole day. I'll sleep for 16 hrs and barely be able to stay up for the other 8.

Even cutting back on nic or caffiene does this to me.

I notice I get a bit figgety when I don't vape. Not like nic fits when I smoked, more like I forgot to do something or forgot something in another room. It's not too bad except for feeling like I am having a senior moment!

BO, have you concidered that the nic may be too high? Also while you are waiting for V.G., why not get a bottle of USP Glycerin from the drugstore (or supermarket/Walgreens) Add a bit to your juice. You will lose a bit of flavor but gain tons of vapor an it will cut your nic.

MK - No, hadn't considered nic being too high, actually. If anything, I was considering bumping it up so that I could vape less frequently and still get the same nic. But I do have a couple 11mg premium carts that were tossed into orders as bonuses (also a couple 4's and some 0's, but think those would probably be way too low), willing to test it out though. Want to be thorough! Thanks for the suggestion

----------------

Update: I will say, with SOB issues, it can be tough to objectively not let your own mind interfere with objective observation. Like someone saying "totally ignore your breathing... don't think about how fast or slow you're breathing...." Now what are you thinking about?

That said... I don't think its the nic level. I tried the 11 and 4mg carts I had on hand, both last night before heading to bed, and this morning on my way in to work. Both times, I start to feel that sob feeling come back within about 6 puffs. The feeling like I have to sit up straight and raise my head a bit, and really breathe extra deep / sigh / yawn. Back of my tongue started to feel kinda thick as well, but I didn't have any water available - that part seemed to go away as soon as I grabbed a water upon arriving at the office. To be clear, its not a SCARY feeling by any means - not even close - I don't feel like I'm gonna pass out or freak out, more like... its just strangely annoying. haha

The PG is still my best guess. As far as nicotine tolerance, admittedly, I'm that dumbass who, while driving on a family roadtrip spits out the nicorette gum just long enough to have a quick smoke while the family heads in to the restroom. High nic never really bothered me, so not surprising, but it was certainly worth trying!!! ...will lay off in general for a couple hours - now if I can just stop yawning.
